Cheers guys. My missus thinks I'm being a tight arse, but my logic is right behind what Johno said, that some try to drink as much as they can as quick as they can. I know I'd be happy to pay $2 schooners/wine for 5 hours instead of free drinks for 2 hours.

Worked aTreat.

Free drinks u get dicks that try and drink it all in first 30 mins buyin 5 drinks at a time etc.

IMO it should be subsidised engagement party free wedding.

Unless u rich as **** then free at both.

why would people be buyin free drinks?

I find the customs all a bit baffling.

First marriage: private engagement party for the bride, no buck's night, and a Methodist wedding.
(My wife to be was a Sunday school teacher there.)

Second marriage: no engagement party or buck's night, private wedding with a few champagnes with friends back at my office building.

Neither of my two brides, nor me, nor our circles of friends, were into drinking much.
(I didn't want a buck's night, and quality not quantity is my rule for drinking.)

Agreed. Last two 21st's I've been to have worked well with that system. Nobody goes anywhere when $2.50 beers are on offer.

I agree with you 100% on that one, Original FC. In fact, I believe it was among my first posts on this site.
