The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Whilst this was 3 months out rather than 3 weeks, this happened prior to the 2009 ASHES series: http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/news/90892-flower-appointed-as-full-time-england-coach
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It just goes to show the state our national team is in at the moment. Given most plans are around the Ashes and the World Cup, clearly the plan hasn't worked. However, having said that, I think it is better now than in 6 months time. I think many were calling for Langer or Lehmann after the debacle that was India.

Good luck Boof!

With the so called discipline issues with the national team I'm not sure how the reported new coach is going to fix this.

Has everyone forgotten how he was forced into retirement from First Class cricket due to his reported clashes with officials :?

You just need to look at what Boof achieved at Queensland, you don't do that by butting heads and getting officials and players offside. I think he is a great appointment, if the rumors are in fact true

Boof is a fantastic appointment. The players will all buy in to his methods and cricketing ethos. He would have the utmost respect from all players.
Not sure this was the case with Arthur?

Now for the selection panel shake up!

H31, not sure how much you know, but SACA, in their wisdom wanted to buy into the "Leading Teams", leadership program when Boof was there. He is very much old school having been educated in the Bradbrook / Hookes leadership models that actually rely on communication, whether over a beer or otherwise. Boof opposed it all along, as did Phillips I believe, and at the end of the year, bye bye Boof and Flipper. Pretty much everyone has clashed with officials at SACA, problem being is that Boof was so high profile, it was reported widely.

The big loser out of all this is SA cricket, what could of Boof done with SA cricket, we will never know, but I can assure you we wouldn't of had the "spirit" issues that have been prevalent under Herr Cox's rein.
