Because the AFL clubs will pay for the SANFL to market it's game to families. By promoting the game, setting up coaching clinics. Wasn't it not that long ago that the mini league was in trouble because of sponsorship? If the SANFL can't afford to pay for this how are they going to expect to promote their game?

With Media focus on Cows and Pork, over time the sponsorship will largely end up with the 2 AFL aligned clubs, sponsorship $$$$ will go where the attention and exposure is, kids will support what they see in the media. This is ALL about the SA based AFL clubs and does not have the best interest of the SANFL or its 8 stand alone member clubs at heart. The 8 stand alone SANFL clubs will struggle for survival.

If you could come up with a balanced, well thought out, well articulated argument you may get a better response from other posters, normally I would question someone making personal attacks but that is very difficult to do when what everyone is saying about you is absolutely correct, you absolutely have NFI!!

I don't see how the VFA/L is at all relevant to this discussion about what will happen in our state. They have a different and unique situation in that their main state league morphed into the national league. How many people would have had a VFL & a VFA alignment? How many people would have gone to both leagues matches in the 70s, 80s & 90s? How many people here go to SANFL & SA Amateurs on a weekly basis?

Its different for us because for everyone here, the SANFL club comes/came first before they supported a VFL/AFL club. I don't think many people would have supported a VFA club first and foremost. Families are still going to tell their children that they should be West or Eagles or Sturt fans growing up.

That will be true for those of us that still feel that passionately about our SANFL club, out of those with families that stopped going (and there were hundreds) when the gAyFL was formed, most will be influenced by peer group pressure and support a AFL based club

Today's President's lunch at Prospect could be interesting.
Last week I got questioned because of some loud Central fans I brought along, today it could be a different issue.
If Bohdan has changed his recent public views I'm going to get rowdier than the Central fans last week!

This discussion smells very much like the whole Adelaide Oval debate, and look at that result for the most reluctant party ( Crows ).
We the 8 SANFL clubs by far have the least to gain by changing what we do now.
The Cows and Paps ( SACA ) are pushing through via the media and white anting behind the scenes, using $ as the cure for all SA footy followers.
It's Wedge Politics and we will eventually lose this war unless we can get some big hitters onside to get out in the media and champion our position.
If we are to rely on Olson and Whicker to preserve the integrity of this grand old lady, well we are :Hangman:
Bring back the Emporer anyone? Wayne Jackson? Big mouth Kevin Foley? Cornes seems to be onside and is still on the radio. Kym Dillon. Josh Francou is excellent when speaking on footy matters.

Give all SANFL Clubs an extra 250-300k salary cap for recruiting.
Would you Rooster supporters be happy with that?

of course not, what they (and nearly everyone else on here) want are no Crows or Power reserves sides in the SANFL. no compromise.

Good idea to get maximum exposure, as there will be a media pack hungry for news doing a lot of waiting outside.

Hey fellow posters sent this to 5aa this morning for a response from da Rooch still no reponse

Hey panel great show

I could go on and on but i will keep it short.

To Rooch i will respond to your ridiculous and pathetic analogy/ statement “ Look at Central they have dominated the SANFL for 12 years.”

1. What has Central got to do with this debate?????

2 For your info Central was NOT and is NOT a AVFL RESERVES side when it won premiership after premiership.

3. Port Adelaide AVFL RESERVES WILL have an advantage over all the other SANFL clubs.

4 Port Adelaide does what is best for Port Adelaide look back at 1990 then 1996.

5. So take off your black and white glasses.

To finish off their is still a lot of hatred for the AVFL the Crows and especially Port Adelaide for destroying the once mighty SANFL.

Response please Rooch

Cheers

Media frenzy.

Those two words were used many times by David Cavinett, CDFC President, during his luncheon address.

His words: if a vote is called in 2 weeks time, it won't result in something either AFL club would like. There's a lot of water to go under the bridge before anything can happen.

I've chatted with 5 board members who all say it's the longest discussion about no information that they've ever encountered.

Slaven said the same thing recently at our Club. Rucci doesn't know what's going on so he is making it up. Look at his articles this week, started at one point and ended somewhere else. On FiveAA today he said that Norwood WANT to become the Crows reserves!

On this issue though what do we think would happen to media interest of the SANFL if the Crows or Power played in the SAAFL or VFL?
