Same with Port, they demand to keep Port Magpies, use them as a reserves team, play for points, play for premierships, keep the juniors and zones, disregard any salary caps etc and give nothing back to the SANFL.
Sounds like a great deal!
Kindly ****off!

Pretty much it, of course arrogance would never come into it.
I wonder what the Crows are up to, at least one of their personnel involved in all this is not up to it.
They're running out of time, no proposal as we get near to July, but we wan't to turn your comp upside down just for our convenience!
All they have been doing is running a campaign through the media so far.

Is this the opportunity that those against the AFL in the SANFL need for a mass rally in protest?
2nd week of the School Holidays & an opportunity for ALL of those against this to put their case.

Why hasn't anyone higher up pushed this agenda with the AFL?

The AFL was only just barely professional back then. Players still had jobs. Salary caps were nowhere near the level it is now.
I mentioned this a couple of weeks back but I think people are understating the effect an AFL reserves comp would have on the SANFL. Say goodbye to 50+ players if lists were increased. If it was just a supplementary list system, then how will that work? One week at AFL reserves, then back to the SANFL, then back to the AFL reserves again, then back to the SANFL again. How is that a better system than what we have now?
As has been mentioned, its also significantly more cost effective for the AFL to let the state leagues do the dirty work in organising reserves sides than having to put in millions of their own money to set it all up. I reckon they would see an AFL reserves comp as worst case scenario.
I reckon it would be best case scenario.

They're bonkers if they'd choose the SAAFL over the SANFL reserves.

They're bonkers if they'd choose all of them ahead of the sanfl reserves.
