That was pretty dramatic, but not a drama.

Been watching Newsroom, Aaron Sorkin's latest.
I'm still a bit iffy on it. It seems too worthy and another version of the West Wing.
Hasn't grabbed me yet.

About to embark on The Wire. Watched it on and off on SBS but the time slot wasn't always good. Looking forward to watching it properly.

Keep meaning to watch that.

But gotta psych myself up for Sorkin's soapboax.

Studio 60 was the worst, which was basically WW set behind-the-scenes of a sketch comedy show.

You can get away with all that indignant, self-righteous, moralising crap in a show about about politics.

But sketch comedy? Just doesn't fly.

Plus the sketches were incredibly heavy-handed and unfunny...

Epic.

It works in the West Wing. Not so sure about The Newsroom - it is too heavy handed.
Having McEvoy describe himself as a Republican is a weak attempt at easing the questions of Sorkin's own politics and its influence on the show. Not that I mind seeing the Tea Party being ripped on.

Sorkin doesn't mind lecturing/hectoring/bludgeoning his audience to a particular point-of-view.

It's like going to see an Australian play.

Except there's no escape in the theatre...

im almost all the way through season 1 of boardwalk empire, I quite enjoy it.
set in the early 20's and is about gangs in Atlantic city and Chicago.
best way to describe it would be a 1920's version of The Sopranos
get on board the thunder train!!!

Wednesday Night Fever

More laughs on the #WNF twitter feed.

Not too hard really coz there wasn't one genuine laugh in 30 minutes.

This tweet to @ABCTV sums it up pretty well:

"what a heap of shit."

Did anyone else hear the commentator talking about Ashton Agar on the cricket last night, regarding him batting at number 11?

England know noothin' about him and it's clear Australia know noothin' about him either. Classic John Snuuuuhhhh moment.

Someone was clearly doing some early spring-cleaning at Willoughby.

Coz 9 are finally screening the final two eps of The Mentalist Series 5.

Must've been behind the House Husbands tapes or something...
