An AFL player's perspective, posted on his AFL club's website.

Neither impartial nor relevant.

It is relevant seeing this issue has been bought up. It also shows why a kid wanting to play AFL football wouldn't have a issue if he had to change clubs.

An article about a WAFL player who isn't part of one of WA's AFL clubs would be much more relevant.

thats the position of every club. nothing has been put on the table from the crows or power so how can a club be saying yes or no.

You were telling us that it was a done deal a few weeks ago.

and I also said it was sarcasm. I've also heard that all clubs have already voted and its 6-2.

I can tell you now that's not the position of every kid on an AFL list, there is one young player at the Dogs in particular who I know has/would have a huge problem with the move.

My understanding is that it's not a huge issue playing for their AFL clubs reserves side it's more the issue of playing agains their SANFL club

Once again it's simple, don't want to play against your old side, don't take the AFL paycheque. Plenty out there who will.

Graham Cornes stated on Friday that Kane has no issue with a move to the Magpies.

Once again you appear to be confused with that bothersome "time issue". Last I checked, AFL listed players in the SANFL aren't currently obliged to leave their SANFL club and play against them.

do you think it would be that big of issue knowing your getting a AFL contract? Do you think that kid at centrals would chuck away a AFL contract just so he didn't have to play against centrals? I think majority would chose to play against their old side and have a AFL contract over playing for their old side and not having a AFL contract.

Agree, but I do know as fact a group of players have told the power management that they would feel 'uncomfortable' about playing against their SANFL side.

Not that that will change anything either clubs does

I heard that interview too and you are twisting the truth again!
He didn't say either way what Kane thought, just that he (Graham) would accept that Kane would have to play for the Magpies/Power Reserves if that model went ahead.

Of course the lure of the AFL leaves the players without a fair choice: it's either give up their aspirations of playing AFL or risk playing against their old side, of course a choice remains but it's hardly fair.
I don't think anyone has suggested a player would give up AFL because of the reserves issue, a vast majority have stated that the players wouldn't like being removed from and then forced to play against their old side.

if the crows/power had reserves teams in our League comp surely some teams would just play a weakened team anyway

why would you if you are still playing for point and percentage. I'd be pretty annoyed if my team missed playing finals because of it.

Oh yeah, like THAT'S not compromising the competition.

So many of you are just plain hypocrites.

"Kick the Magpies out of the SANFL. But don't compromise the competition."

"The AFL Reserves sides shouldn't play for Premiership Points. But don't compromise the competition."

"It's OK for Sturt to rely on AFL Players. But don't compromise the competition."

"Let's carve up the boundaries (again). But don't compromise the competition."

"Port Adelaide are too dominant, let's shoehorn Woodville into their zone. But don't compromise the competition."

I think you're confusing individuals with the collective. Most have a different opinion to you, but not all have the same opposing opinion.

That doesn't make anyone a hypocrite.

Surely Port Nagpies as Power reserves breaking the SANFL salary cap by hundreds of thousands of dollars EVERY year trumps all of those pissweak excuses you've just put forward.
Again, would you be agreeable for Port Power to enter a competition under the terms you're asking of the other 8 SANFL clubs Beenreal?
I surely doubt it. Time to look in the mirror me thinks!
