Not sure he will get much League game time at the Dogs, but we'll see?

You can safely say he will be or else the crows wouldn't have allowed the move!

Dowdell and McKernan have now left South....hmmmm.

McKernan went to Glenelg for more forward time, as South couldnt "fit him into their forward structure"

Dowdell looking for more time in the ruck.

Those Panthers are going well if they can't fit these lads in. :D

Dowdell is no great loss from what I have seen but I still cannot fathom how South could let McKernan go?

This highlights my point from the other day about how the Crows obviously haven't thought about the consequences of having all their reserve ruckmen in the same team.

What happens next year when Dowdell isn't happy that Angus Graham is taking all his ruck time in the Crows Reserves team?
Where can he move to then?

Be careful of what you wish for...

Good point because as it stands they won't have reserves teams to back up their SANFL team wherever they end up playing? Someone will have to 'develop' in another postion which goes against the grain of why they want the teams in the first place!

A great point that should be raised in an interview with one of the AFL clubs.

There is also Osborne who is at Centrals and on the Crows list, his very very very raw, comes from a basketball background and needs as much time in the ruck as possible even if it is only SANFL reserves. He would be third string ruckmen in a Crows reserves side, at least at Centrals he generally number 2 ruck if he played league and number 1 in the ressies.

This was an issue at collingwood last year: one of the reasons given for cutting cam wood and jon ceglar was because they were all competing for 1 ruck spot

"We had Witts, Ceglar and Wood all trying to ruck in the VFL last year and none of them getting a go at it," football manager Geoff Walsh said

Im definatly willing to give Dowdell a crack despite thoughts from others his a hack.

Lairdy has credit in the bank when it comes to recrutining other players from SANFL clubs

-Boyd (outside reciever soft as butter)
-Guilhuas (useless hack, lazy, cant kick)
-Sutherland (lazy, bad attitude, loose cannon)
-Jenner (to slack and lazy to make it at SANFL level)
-Slattery (outside reciever, money chaser, soft, front runner)

We now have some of the biggest units in the league if we can get, Guilhaus, Dowdell, Hardy, Collier, Obst all on the park together.

I would guess the Crows pay the transfer fee? Surely Centrals didn't outlay the cost knowing the Crows reserves coming in next year?

Why would a player want to leave South ?
Ever imagine what it might be like training on that ground in the middle of winter let alone PLAYING on it ?

Dowdell is also a former basketball player was a member of Australia's team at the U/19 World Championships in 2007, played college basketball in the US at Santa Clara University then came home and played a few NBL pre-season games with the Cairns Taipans before being drafted by the Crows.
