Japan score an 89th minute winner to beat Iraq 1-0 and eliminate them from contention.
Worst we can finish is 3rd now.

Does that work in our favour or will Iraq just park the bus now rather than chase a win which they might of done if they were still in contention

Really good performance by Aus last night.

We look so much better when Bresciano is on the ball, he needs to be allowed to play as that slightly lazy centre mid who we try and create most forward movement through.

Ill probably get shot down for this but while Robbie Kruse played well BOY does he still do alot of things wrong, backs out of challenges, lazy lazy lazy heading the other way, fails to give the first give so many times and wanders inside far to much for an out and out winger. He has so much talent as he produced in moments last night he just needs to bridge the gap between his best and worse efforts.

I cant stand Lucas Neill but him and Ogga are starting to get a good understanding, also we normally play skulls on Neills chest high ten metre passes and dont think we skulled once last night, was definatly one of his better performance regardless of the goal.

Is Timmy the best performaned Aussie international performer EVER???

One more win to go and the countdown to the greatest show on earth next year starts.

Never thought i would see the day the Aussies could make 3 consecutive world cups.

Need to start Tommy Rogic and give him some good minutes. Absolute gun, will easily be the best Socceroo if given more game time. He's already light years ahead of Holman, who is a serious dud apart from the occasional long goal.

Qatar are hosting the 2022 World Cup.

Once again they have failed to qualify for the World Cup on their own merit.

Surely there needs to be some criteria in relation to having been able to make the previous world cup etc etc to be able to host one and therefore get automatic qualification.

One of the reason the World Cup is held in such prestige is its the footballing worlds best nations participating having gone through a tough qualifiction to get there.

FIFA shouldnt be gifting nations world cup appearances.

Iraq have left their 2 best players at home and will field a young and inexperienced side against Australia next week.
Also it has been announced that if Australia automatically qualify we will play Brazil in a friendly over there in September.
Would be a huge boost for the Socceroos

Too many dumb footballers in the Australian side.
Its wet and the surface is crap, how about shooting on sight instead of trying to pass it into the back of the net.
