Re: Great Southern Football League
From strath munn is captain, Simmo & young Chris Clarke made it as a u21. Sam McDonald is emg. Haven't heard too much about the team except I know a few stars aren't playing in kellock, Lally, mcgregor, cousins, welsh, perrie, rugolo & sidebottom. Would expect the great southern side to be a quick team with not too many talls as normal. Will be interesting how good a team southern put out as well? Reading on the southern league forum 12 happy valley players were invited out & only 2 are playing!

Re: Great Southern Football League
GSFL won by about 10 goals with Munn (medal) best and closely followed by Portlock and Hodge not far behind. S/C lost by a few points and the J/C won too. Poor crowd too but probably because its at Hickinbotham.

When is the GSFL squad announced? Would be nice to actually see who is representing. Can someone post the link to this as well as the detailed results?

Re: Great Southern Football League
Just interested to know but is the SFL squad U23's and GSFL open? Some associations only play U23's like SAAFL and RMFL I think.

They had to have a minimum of 6 or so players under 21 in the squad.

I tend to disagree with the under age thing. Pick the best of the best who want to play - no suspensions if you don't want to. The clubs should go to there players, ask who wants to play and submit it to the league. I'm all for young lads getting a gig, if they're good enough they'll make it.

I think that's a first for us Baysrule
On another more I hear a GSFL super rules team is gaining momentum! Will be gold to see the old boys shuffling around on a Sunday.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Interesting to see Munn, Portlock and Hodge as GSFL's best players. All greats at their own clubs and obviously have real passion for the league. Ashton-Place is a beauty as well.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Some really big games tomorrow in the context of the season. Bays and Strath, geez Bays probably, McLaren at home to Goolwa, should be the Maggies, Compass and Victor could be season defining for both teams, Willunga too strong for Mypo and Yank at home to a much stronger Creek team who are building again. Great round of footy in the wet and cold.

How is Gazza Williams and Wendles going at the Mudlarks this season??? Is Tom Carroll still playing hasn't played the last few matches?
Has Kelly filled Mickan's shoes at Goolwa?
Heard Meigel at Willinga had a ruptured ACL and out for the season, big loss!!!

Wendleborn was very good against Victor. A few had a go standing him but none succeeded.

Re: Great Southern Football League
I probably saw one of the worst incidents in footy yesterday. How could Willunga make the "The Old Bull" Ben Baxter play in the ressies for the first time ever?? Sure he's been out for 6 weeks with a hammy & he's 37 but when your mates (BJ Ernest) won't look after you at selection... I mean where is football headed??

Re: Great Southern Football League
WOW, Bays quietly did a job on Strath yesterday,Strath never in the hunt really, Bays must now be firm fav's for the flag, wont be discounting Willunga or a resurgent Creek side who are starting to get it together.

Re: Great Southern Football League
1/2 way mark of the Minor round has been reached in what has so far been one of the most intriguing seasons for many a year.
Encounter Bay have established themselves as the standout team so far, yet to be seriously challenged and as a result are are short priced flag favourites. Certainties to finish TOP and straight into the 2nd semi final.
Strath and Willunga are well placed to retain 2nd and 3rd spots and play off in the Qualifying final.
Strath by virtue of winning many close games have given themselves a 2 game and % buffer over 4th placed Mt Compass whilst Willunga in 3rd have a 1 game and a huge % advantage over the others.
Of the other 7 teams, Yankalilla and Myponga/Sellicks although only 2 wins and % out of the 5 can basically be ruled out of Finals contention, would probably have to win 7 of their last 9 and that just aint gonna happen on current form tho they could still win their share of matches.
Mt Compass and Goolwa/P.E. had a massive chance yesterday to put a clear gap between themselves in 4th and 5th spot and the others but both blew their opportunity. Creeks, Victor and McLaren all had MUST win games yesterday and all survived the test.
Of the teams outside the 5 atm, Creeks seem to be the most likely to move into the 5 in the 2nd half of the season as they start to build a bit of momentum after a horror start to the season with retirements, defections and injuries severely hampering their premiership defence.
Suggested Flag odds
E.Bay $1.45
Willunga $4.50
Strath $8.00
L.Creek $12.00
Mt. Compass $31
Goolwa/P.E. $41
Victor Harb $71
McLaren $101
Yankalilla $201
Myp/Sellicks $501
