Massive exodus of players, reason? Premier League or new coach?

Heard they only got one application for Head Coach, so hard to blame anyone, maybe a sign of the times with the more highly credentialled coaches opting for the Premier League.

The Jack Pudney one is interesting, the Club went out of their way to help him, "gifted" him an A Grade game when he had not bowled for months with a back injury, then he treats them like this.

Very common now for players like Jack to demand higher grades or they will leave, the Club is always bigger than the individual, but the last couple of years they have certainly made several "selections" due to this reason. Hopefully this is the last straw and in future they are told to perform or rack off!

I'm sure WT are extremely dissapointed in Jack departure. He is a talented kid, which they have put a lot of time into. I guess the pressure is on him now to perform in the Agrade, which he really hasn't so far, or he'll be in the 2s at the bays pretty quickly. The premier league effect will be felt at all clubs in the next few season.

I pray that I am wrong about DC then. All I know is that when I asked him at the end of last season whether he would play on next year, he was very noncommital. In previous years, he was very confident.
I do hope that DC plays on. I know we should not have favourites, but he is the guy I have the utmost respect and time for at the club. I love them all, but DC is someone I would go to war for (strange... as I am a pacifist *grins*)

Willo, the fact of possibly getting only one applicant did not matter too much thankfully. The new appointee knows the club inside and out and is an excellent appointment. I have every faith in Ian as coach.

They actually had more than one applicant but only really one they seriously consdiered I believe. DC will be playing on as VC is the latest I have heard - I believe he is still very much hoping to get back to first class cricket and at 28 years old as a spin bowler there is absolutely no reason he can not do it. He is an extremely hard worker and if anyone is capable of making a come back it is DC.

Towards the end of last year, all reports were that he was very close to recapturing his old form and was bowling the best he had bowled for some time in regards to drift, spin, dip and variation. Good luck to him.

Any word on Gullies or Prospect coaches?

Shame for West Torrens that Pudney is leaving but I know Glenelg do a heap of stuff down in Mt Gambier for juniors. Big for them to have any talented kid from down that way come through their club to build that link.

Big shoes to fill, Cammo looks to have done a great job from the outside. Deserves his premier league gig.

very muchly so, cammo's impact was massive on the group!

However, its not so much a matter of filling his shoes IMO, its a matter of keeping the ship on its course. The A/B grade squad is highly motivated and after both making finals will be looking to do the same and continue the improvement. Cammo also incorperated a range of quality skills coaches with state and international credentials who are extremely valuable to the program and these blokes will no doubt be involved next year.

Haha, love it!

DC will be VC, captain will be announced on the 24th June at the AGM. If the rumours are true I believe the captaincy announcement will surprise some and will be a gutsy but very, very good move.

Is Trent Kelly not playing on also?

Kelvin Smith must be the only option available then if not DC.

Looks like he will get more of a bowl now then!

P.George would be an option. But Kelvin is a gun and would excel in the role.
