And there is the rub.

Is the SANFL weaker without a Port presence? Of course it is.

Perhaps years ago, when I was still a boy and Port were a team worth hating.

But now they are a shadow of a club. The Power really has destroyed the Port tradition. The old "there is not SANFL without Port Adelaide" has died a slow quiet death, while everyone was looking away.

I put to you an 8 team League - 10 team Reserves. I don't give a rats if you wear the prison bars, the big V or that netball skirt you paraded around in when you joined the AFL, just piss off out of the league and let the rest of us get on with it. Port Adelaide has been white-anting the SANFL since the inception of the crows.

Right now the SANFL is weaker with Port. It is time to cut the umbilical chord and for both Port and the SANFL to grow up.

Well said !!!

We must all be getting sick of this argument.
Lets face it Port Adelaide have always got what they wanted and always will
The SANFL was too chicken livered to give Port Magpies their marching orders back in 1997 when it should have and now all the chickens are back to roost. Again the SANFL will be too weak to stand up to the Power of Port and that will end up being the death of the whole competition in the future.
This would be the same Footy Park that Port Adelaide were asked to underwrite in the early '70s?

This would be the same Footy Park that Port Adelaide were asked to shift 6 games to in order to generate some SANFL income back in 1974?

This is the same Footy Park into which Port Adelaide has pumped over $57M of revenue (not profit as it's the SANFLs job to turn that revenue into a profit) since 1997?

Talk about ungrateful!
Interesting, was it not a case of Port requesting to have those matches transferred?
Also, the first that I have ever heard of Port Adelaide underwriting Football Park.
Another stretch of the truth by Port supporters??

Cheers

there's any easy way settle all of this. The SANFL sell of the AFL license, The crows and power move their reserves players interstate, and the SANFL is removed from the SMA. It will be interesting to see how long the SANFL will survive without any involvement from the AFL

They must be worried at Alberton - Trying to play the bluff game after the 6-2 vote for the crows > Game over - No RESSIES FOR YOU

That will never happen, Adelaide oval should and will be jointly owned and run by the other 8 SANFL clubs
Ive got a better idea, how about Port f**k off and go play at Alberton, im sure they still wouldn't even fill that

Apparently Port bankrolled the entire league for decades as well.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I also see your (and all port supporters on safooty for that matter) are still refusing to answer what actual benefits there is to the SANFL clubs and supporters to have the AFL reserves sides in the league comp.

Your silence on this really says it all.

That would be like a tenant not liking their landlord and expecting them to just stop asking for rent and giving them the house. If Port don't want to play at Adelaide Oval they don't have to. If they can't come up with a better alternative though they need to just suck it up and pay the SMA (and therefore the SANFL) for the privilege of using their facility.
