Yes, The Bays played great against the Creeks a few weeks back but the Creeks played terrible that day, allowed their opponents run riot with little or no pressure on them. Was the same in round 1, Willunga looked awesome in that last qtr as they took advantage of the Creeks tiring badly. Same as Goolwa against the Creeks in the 2nd qtr the other week.
Creeks cant win the flag this year but could still possibly make the 5 but only IF they get the majority of their injured players back on the park quick.
Bays obvious standouts on what we've seen so far but a long way to go with plenty more surprises to come.

You are right mate with injuries Creeks will struggle, but don't underestimate the wounded bull. I think at their best they can push most if not all in the comp but at present would need to play out of their skin to beat EB, but stranger things have happened. I'm confident the second half of the year will see Creeks fight back and make the finals, what happens then we will have to wait and see.

Lots of talk of injuries at the creek...I can see Basir, D Chandler, Norman, McGregor, M Tonkin, P Cleggett missing. Some great quality missing there - are there any others to come in?

Heard that a large percentage of players are unavailable for association football and most will be producing medical certificates which can be picked up from the chemist for $25. The league is threatening suspensions. If this happens season 2013 will be a joke. Why play players who are on holidays or don't want to be there. I would rather players be honest than all have shit injury / flu excuses

I would dare say that large percentage would be carrying a few niggles and need a break! It's a bloody long year for those lads battling a few niggles if they don't have a break! I hear threats every year of suspensions but has it actually ever happened?

I think if the GSFL were consistent across the board it would not be an issue : for example the current leading goalkicker was not even selected to play as he had previous commitments which i think is fair enough as he has played footy at a higher level than what this can offer, i also was told that the Goolwa full forward was selected to play and Goolwa have been told he has to play or there will be ramifications ( were is the consistency of this league) as the Goolwa full forward has also played football at a level that this league cannot offer. Some of the players selected before they even signed to play for the clubs they play for had previous commitments : getting married etc which i think comes before club football let alone GSFL representation . GSFL you need to get a life and understand that some of the players you have selected do not wish to play because of other commitments, and instead of the strong arm tactics of this type of threat you should respect that these players are playing country footy to get away from the hype and feeling like they are owned and on display at the demand of the league.

That's not quite right about Wilson and welsh and Perrie are now in the squad. This is the problem with association footy. I love it, but every year it's nothing positive, it's all negative about how players will "get out" of playing. Best way to go about it is to get to the clubs early find out who wants to play then we can spend a couple of weeks pumping it up and getting excited about it. Hope there's no suspensions. We have bays after the break. Would be nice not to come up against their guns, but that would leave a hollow feeling

Totally agree LF. I think each club should each club should nominate 4-5 players who WANT to play and then the selectors/coach can whittle it down from there and obviously the league can recommend a 'required' 1 or 2 included in that. At least you will get the guys who really want to play. As for suspensions, etc. they would need to be consistent across the board and not have a different outcome for each individual. The league has to remember that most of these players started training late last year and look forward to that week away to spend with their families, etc.

Agreed some may need a rest but pretty sure the clubs don't pay them to play association football either........

agreed, clubs should nominate people who want to play. if the association wants certain people to play then they can chase them up but as far as suspending people goes i think thats a bit harsh. i used to look forward to the weekend at home with no aches or pains on the sunday. maybe bays10 could confirm but i think a couple of bay guys got suspended for 2 weeks for not go to association training. think it was blom and sanders, not 100% sure though.

Why would some of these guys want to risk their weekly financial compensation to play for the Great Southern team, are you kidding me???? and for the League to suspend players for Not playing or training is stupid, if the guys that go out and wanna represent the league on their accord fine, but blaming guys for not playing and risking their income on getting an injury playing association from Football is why some of these guys surely dont want to risk this.

Just on the association topic I think the league selectors need to talk to the coaches of the sides a bit more! This is just from a goolwa point of view but dale cuthbert and Trent Griffen are in awesome form the last few weeks n they're not even in the squad to be looked at and I'm sure there are a lot of other in form players in other teams that didn't get a look in either! Dont get me wrong it would be great to c welsh wilson n sarge running around but I think it should be a form based selection not just a name, lets show case some local great southern talent! IMO

I saw something I'd never seen before at Langhorne Creek Oval on Saturday. In the last quarter of the A Grade, one of McLaren's waterboys was given a yellow card by the central umpire. I spoke to a few people after the game and I believe it was for either abusing the umpire or questioning his decision (or possibly a bit of both)..
