You have to have your best mids playing in the midfield. It doesn't matter if your playing C2's or your Dane Swan or Gary Ablett. If your the best on ball type player at your club at any level, which I think Mazey would be at Mitchell Park, your going to cop attention from the opposition.

Yeah but I also don't think Mazey is a natural roving type midfielder. Off a wing - probably his best spot - sure, but he doesn't have the physique to play in the guts all day IMO. Have to remember he is probably 6-2 but needs to stretch his arms out to stop himself going down the sinkhole in the shower.

We would love 21 of him, but at the moment he is playing a role and was fantastic yesterday in a losing side up forward.

And just on yesterday, I have to pay my compliments to Lockleys. Won all three games relatively easily and displayed a high level of professionalism throughout. Always a pleasure to play football there. At the club later that night a few of the boys even said that they would rate LFC pretty highly in the list of clubs they have played against and respect the most.

Great Bacon and Egg roles as well.

Was at the game yesterday and thought all three grades for lockleys signing their club song on thr oval was disrespectful and lacked class. Just my opinion but we always sang it behind closed doors. And on the game lockleys clearly won thr clearances which was the difference in the end. Many goals scored from those clearances, number 15 for lockleys I reckon had 10+ clearances himself!!!

Each to their own but I reckon singing the club song on the ground and sharing it with the supporters is great, I really don't see how it is disrespectful at all, if it were at a SANFL or AFL ground it would be blasted out on the loud speaker for all to hear, is it really any different?

I agree. Sing it in the rooms and the opposition can still hear it, sometimes accompanied by banging on the walls (although...this wouldn't be the case at Lockleys, obviously).

We were simply beaten by the better side on the day. Westminster are very well drilled, very well structured and play a very good team game of football and on the day we simply didn't make the most of our chances going forward, we went inside 50 as much as Westminster and played some good periods of footy but simply didn't convert on the score board and Westminster did. They deserved the 2 points no excuses from us. The End

Whilst I appreciate you interest DW is the 7th placed side going down to the 3rd place side by 37 points such a surprise? Or was that a loaded question? I'm guessing the latter......

So you have the option of playing him in the middle and having a massively nullified influence, getting frustrated, not enjoying his footy, or you can put him either down back to get some run and class or up forward where yep, he will get a close checking opponent but his 10 touches will be deadly.

With a bit more midfield depth we could probably get away with Mazey or Weekley copping tags in the midfield, as then blokes like Daish, Simper and Francis can run amok, but of course they havent been playing.

so let me get this right... Your happy if arguably your best player gets 10 touches, instead of actually giving him the opportunity to shake a tag (which good players do) and potentially carve a side up??? bit of a cop out and I reckon it shows little faith in your player... i'm a little confused by these tactics :?

Well I believe there were 3 incidents to speak of out of the day and NONE OF THESE 3 INCIDENTS INVOLVE CENTRAL UNITED before people make there own assumptions.

The first involved contact from a boundary umpire to a player (which I really can't comment on as I didn't see it at all just heard about it).

The second involved some player contact from a runner to which I was a little unimpressed with at which time I went and made my feelings clear to the runner at there coaches box and I must say it was handled very well by both match day officials and it must be said the Westminster coach.

The third I also didn't see but apparently a Westminster supporter was involved in a altercation with some supporters of a neighboring club and was struck with an object to my knowledge I don't know much about the incident but I'm 100% sure it wasn't anyone currently from the Central United football club.

I didn't feel these were appropriate to post on here but the crap I've heard today about what WE did yesterday is very frustrating were trying to turn around a bad name in terms of discipline and I've been driving that message hard for 2 years now and I believe weve come a long way (yes still a long way to go) but to hear ohh what did the units do? There at it again? Is something that really pisses me off.

10 touches in the forward line? Absolutely. I saw Matthew Lloyd kick 9 goals from 11 touches in the footy flashback today. Mazey probably had a few more than that on Satdee but not too many more, point is he still got second best for us as each one would have just about resulted in a goal, including the 4 he kicked himself.

Its about influence on the game, not statistics or numbers or cheap possessions. Would you rather 10 Cyril Rioli touches or 10 Kane Cornes touches?

10 touches in the midfield under a heavy tag is nowhere near as influential as 10 touches up forward under a heavy tag.

Mazey isn't really a bonafide midfielder anyway, he is a tall wing man / flanker, so this whole argument is kind of moot.

Yeah it is different that's why sanfl and afl teams do it in the rooms. Even on grand final days they still wait for all post match stuff to finish before they sing it themselves. Anyways like I said it was just my opinion, and from the other posts I've read no one else seems to have a problem with it so maybe times have changed. All good

im with you bloods... I think it looks carp if clubs sing there song on the oval.. if you win you can do what you like, I just think it looks arrogant and I reckon it looks like shite. saying that I have never been in a side who sings on the oval.. only time appropriate imo is GF day...
