I think this convo about the crowd is a nothing debate, really.
This is a made for TV comp. Crowds mean nothing and its success or failure won't be judged on that.

Spot on.

It does seem the players have passion for the competition. Only had to look at the East Freo players singing the song after the game to see that. The players also have the passion for State footy.

I think we as supporters should acknowledge that and support the players and at the same time push for a more reasonable format/fixturing so the competition can also be supported by the clubs.

IMO a 4 week window before the season starts would be perfect. If they want content on a Tuesday night during the season, why not the Under 18 National Competition.

Because people would have even less interest in that.

Sorry, Phil, wasn't specifically referring to you. There have been a lot of other posters here and elsewhere slagging the comp due to a lack of bums on seats. I wonder how it's rating?

THIS...

the crowd doesn't mean shit..its not about the crowd its about tv..of it was about the crowd the game wouldn't be at that time nor at arctic park

don't judge the crowd on the interest in this game...i think u would be surprised how many people would of tuned in at some point right around Australia..its by far the most exposure these clubs would get on a national level ever.

i like the concept and am disappointed in the result and my clubs attitude towards it.

Except for the people who do care.

Usually when someone makes the statement "no one cares" it means that they dont care. Which then must mean the person making the statement is no-one ;)

Really Barto - a personal attack. Sad.

Take a look at how the SANFL clubs treat this competition. Actions speak loader than words.

The players and club officials love it. Saw some pics from behind the scenes from someone at East Freo when they were in Adelaide. If the comp is of no financial burden to the clubs involved, long may it continue IMO.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

It's obvious the SANFL clubs are out of step with how the other clubs competing feel about it. If they really were so against it, they wouldn't compete at all.

And I stand by my statement, saying "no one cares' is a reflection of how YOU feel, there's always someone who cares about an issue. You only have to listen to Crows and Port Power fans going on about how "no one cares about the SANFL" when this site is clear evidence that it isn't the case.

I think there is defeniatly a large portion of Crows supporters that I like to call the 'crowvertisers' you know the ones the happy clapping supporters that love the AFL yet carry on every decision made is an anti sa conspiracy, they get all their football info from the advertiser and 5aa. They definatly consider the SANFL and truly belive we need them to survive.

There the ones I deal with a work who give me the shits.

He didn't say all Crows/Power fans but there's been at least a vocal few, especially Power fans.

Lots of people say "who cares"? The fact that you're reading and commenting on this thread shows that you do care. Dissappointed we lost. The money woulda come in handy as we have a few bills to pay. The exposure for the young kids was important. Dont think we'll have Bampton for much longer

So garygroundwork you all watched the Mickey Mouse Cup raise your hands if anyone watched must of had massive ratings it is irrelevant and inconsequential garbage so scrap it and stop pandering to the AFL/FOXTEL bloc.

Now that is over, I am still angry for the fact we lost a game most Norwood supporters would believe we were going to win. I was watching the East Freo officials before the game started and it was evident they had come to win, whereas Bassett and co were quite jovial and relaxed beforehand . Still, East Freo made the most of their opportunities, so good luck to them. Sad to see the influence of the West Coast ducking for a free kick filter through to the state league comp ! Sorry but both clubs can't claim any bragging rights when only one side takes it seriously. I also heard their players sing the club song, it was loud. Sorry Norwood but I am a proud and paid up member and I want us to win, even Foxtel Cup games ! RD

I think we wanted to win RD, just weren't good enough - That's footy, no team/club is good enough to win every game.
