there is a law about swearing, it just depends how the person interrupts it. If they find it threatening, abusive or insulting then you can be charged. next time your out in public and see a police officer go and swear at them with threatening, abusive and insulting words and so how long before your locked up.

There is no law regarding swearing in public. There is one in regard to offensive language.

Kickinit, I won't be taking it further with the cops because the whole incident is that ridiculous & trivial, in my opinion, that it doesn't warrant further action. I thought about it when the ranga shoved me in the chest when we were outside & not many people were around but.....nah. I'm not 17 anymore & I have far more important things to concern myself with.

Are we to assume you meant see how long before you are locked up ? Well the answer is probably you wont be as it depends on how he/she " interrupts it" Oh dear, a pedant that can't spell.

Firstly, well done to you Centurion. The situation could have escalated quickly had you shown further resistance to the police.Good on you.

Despite TSG's claim there is no such thing as bad publicity, consider the media getting hold of a Centrals supporter being evicted and then arrested over a banner being held up at an SANFL. I think we all agree that the message on the banner would not be the focus of the story. Furthermore, if Centurion had not been so willing to follow the directions and things had got further out of hand and more people involved/evicted/arrested then the story would have been more about unruly behaviour at a Centrals game than Eric's message. Again, you did the best thing possible on the day, well done mate.

On the flip side, if the police want to evict anyone from the ground for almost any reason, they will do so. I obviously dont agree with it in this situation but there is little doubt the police, along with security need these powers. How they best use them is certainly open to debate.

In short yes!

It seems OTR may have some more intimate knowledge of how these things work, so perhaps we should refer to his knowledge of the protocol involved.

*Edit*

I am concerned the message this banner was intended to send will get lost in this whole ordeal. Not what the owner nor any of the supporters of this would want.

No point making enemies in higher places just for the sake of it.

Anyone else see a common link between the posters who "seem" to have a problem with the banner, or what occurred on Saturday.

I guess booney has never heard the saying 'no such thing as bad publicity' either. Would love the media to jump on the story, and see wherw it goes from there.

I have no issues with the banner or its message and I certainly know of the saying. Lots of old sayings around, doesn't mean they are right or that I have to agree with them!

I think Centurion is doing a very good job of getting the message across.

If you trust the media to report things accurately, good on you.
