I'm guessing this Christine is fictitious, or didn't have the authority to tell anyone anything. I think Centurion is pretty well connected at Centrals, if he doesn't know this person then she possibly doesn't matter.
It'll be interesting to read the SANFL's response, but at this stage I'd say they're not to blame.
It looks ax though WESLO and the 2 SAPOLs have screwed up IMO.

that's what I was thinking too about the Centrals lady. Weslo wouldn't have handled it well, but no blame is on SAPOL, it's not their job to decide on the banner being allowed up or not

You're kidding right ? There are things called phones and radios these days, a quick call could have cleared it up as soon as the yellow men moved in and inflamed the situation. One would hope our Police Officers receive better training than to act like they did yesterday. No laws were being broken ergo SAPOL don't need to be involved.
Yes I was there and saw it, I am 56 years old and run my own business, I am generally law abiding and support our Police force but the actions of the two officers yesterday was well over the top presumably at the behest of the so called "security staff".
This matter should not be let go- someone needs to be held to account and explain legitimately why this banner cannot be held up on the mound.

Twice this has happened at Elizabeth Oval & twice WESLO have mentioned some Collette lady. BOTH times I have asked who she is & where she is but both times WESLO couldn't assist me in liaising with her.

Christine must be code for Andrew Demetriou. I fear this is a lost cause and Olsen has bent over for Demetriou and the deal has already been done and there will be AFL Reserve teams in the SANFL League competition.

I REALLY hope I am WRONG!

The SANFL has always over reacted to things outside their "conservative" agenda. The fact that they have allowed Weslo to do what they have done two weeks in a row is disgraceful based on what Centruion has told me re the rules about displaying Eric. As for blaming the Police - they are acting on a complaint from Weslo and are in a no win situation as Weslo is engaged by the League to enforce ground management so to "err" on the side of caution and without knowing the facts the Police would have taken the safety first option and removed the "threat" based no doubt on what Weslo told them was fact. I am sure in the wash it will all come out but Chris Davies is garnishing alot of negative publicity that makes him and others in charge at the SANFL look like unprofessional buffoons. If you polled the 8 League CEO's and Presidents who make up the League Directors they are all anti-AFL teams in our comp (at least the League Comp) so they wouldn't have an issue with the banner as long as it is displayed within the rules that supposedly is being done as per the League CEO's direction?

Perhaps the answer is passive resistance rather than confrontation.
Take two or three banners to each match, unfurl one and when told to take it down, fold it up immediately.
Be totally compliant. No fuss. Give them no grounds to confiscate or damage the banner.

This would be the signal to unfurl the next one elsewhere around the ground, furl that up when told to, and then unfurl the third somewhere else.
The ongoing cycle would be amusing and attract more attention.

Spoke to the large Weslo bloke (we've got to know each other over the past few years ;) ), and the two police officers after they had evicted you.........the Weslo guy told me he had rung the Weslo office and been told by "Charmaine" that the banner was not allowed so he was "just doing what he was told".......the Police said they became involved because the directive by Weslo to take the banner down was not being followed......they were unable to tell me what law and / or regulation you were breaching.........which is exactly the same issue I had with Weslo at Glenelg Oval......

Personally I think this Chris Davies is just feeding you a line mate......as soon as that banner went up the yellow shirts descended on it which would suggest that they have a very clear directive to get it down as soon as it goes up......

....if he isn't feeding you a line then hopefully he's starting to become aware of the incompetence of Weslo that we've all been aware of for years....

THEN, once the match had concluded, they marched me back to my car, where I secured Eric, & they proceeded to tell me that I had to vacate the premises. Is that standard practice? Why did I have to leave my club?

I tend to agree, I don't think the footy is a place to politically grandstand. Tom can permanently erect a political banner, which has nothing to do with footy but I can't hold up Eric?

Anyone know a sympathetic lawyer, or could one of the allegedly social justice orientated firms be persuaded to support a class action? 8)

A good idea to get the media involved, they love a bit of controversy and it helps spread the word of the banner.

Ask Davies for a meeting with head of Weslo in attendance as well.
