If the account of what happened is true, then Weslo is either staffed by some very stupid people or is a very stupid company indeed. Security should be there to ensure a peaceful environment and really they should only act if that peace is being threatened or if some law is being broken. The fact that Davies has told them Eric is allowed to be displayed should make their jobs easier. It's one less thing they need to worry about. Against that instruction they've taken it apon themselves to create a potential conflict. Exactly what they've been instructed to prevent. If a member of the public took exception to this treatment, if the situation escalated, then their stupidity would be highlighted for all to see.
If I'm reading this correctly it seems a policeofficer supported Weslo? Could someone confirm this?
As an expat Aussie, I have at the very least a unique perspective of what it means to be Australian, and what's important about being Australian. I never thought that a peaceful demonstration of a non offensive message breaking no laws in a sanctioned place would be threatened by a licensed security force, [b]IN AUSTRALIA[b]! If the police have backed this up then something is clearly going wrong.
I have a hunch about why they've done it, and if I'm correct it reflects poorly on them so I'll hold the accusation. They're looking bad enough already.

Eric was in full view and erect as Vitkunis missed a set shot in the last quarter but being manhandled by Weslo at the time.

Appeared a bit later on lying in a somewhat subdued pose then gone not too long after.

I'd say get it in writing what Eric can and can't do but those twats probably can't read

Yes the police did support Weslo and evicted one particular gentleman, seriously how many times can it be said that the SANFL dont have a problem with the banner as long as its not on the ground yet these pencil necks at "we slow" seem to take it upon themselves to remove it.

But surely the said gentleman must have done something abusive or broken some law for SAPOL to back up WESLO? Why would the SAPOL would support a group infringing the rights of others acting in a peaceful manner?

That is an excellent question probably best directed to SAPOL/WESLO, they wouldn't spin anything surely? There were plenty of witnesses and people filming proceedings. The yellow men were very provocative and inflamed a peaceful situation. Lets see the SANFL's response come Monday.

right, I have a glass of red, I am ready to reply.
We decided at about the 15 minute mark of the last quarter to get Eric out. Sturt were taking a shot at goal, WESLO started to over. We erected Eric, WESLO approached & stated that we weren't to hold Eric up. I stated that they are wrong, I have the written & verbal approval from Chris Davies. They said Who? They told me that some lady from Centrals called Christine told them that I can't hold up Eric, I said Who is Christine, never heard of her & she has never approached me to tell me to not display Eric. They said they were only doing hat they were told, I said you are wrong & I am not taking Eric down AT ALL. Then the cops rolled in. I couldn't believe it. I also informed them that I have formal approval to display Eric. Anyway, cops being cops, they wanted to win, I didn't want to lose, they proceeded to impose their will, both took hold of me & took me out of the ground & onto the road.

if what being said is true then someone needs to contacts chris davies ask for a email sent to yourself and to head of weslo stating where eric can and can't go. Seems as crhis is saying one thing and doing another.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

So it sounds like the annoyance here should be with Centrals, partly with the SANFL, partly with Weslo or not at all at SAPOL.

Just if anyone is wondering, I went into T-shirt City on Hindley Street early last week and had a bit of a chat and found out that getting t-shirts printed up by them is a bit expensive. Getting 10 t-shirts printed up you are looking at around $350. :?
