Not sure anyone said they should be even but the count should not be influenced by the venue, history or popular opinion from the crowd which is often the case in my experience.

Having done both a and b grade footy at this level myself it can be intimidating but you just have to put yourself in a position to see what's happening and then be consistent.

On Saturday I saw a particular free paid for the first time I can recall and it was directly after a number of people on and off the ground shouting out about it. Results in an easy goal late in a tight contest and just leaves you wondering. Thing was it occurred probably 8-10 other times during the game but was not paid.

I can't stand this type of whinging towards umpires.

I'm not saying div 6 umpires aren't horrendous, I'm sure they are, but according to you they paid the same seemingly tight decision 10 out of 11 times and you are saying be consistent!? FFS.

The 'be consistent' call is the trade mark call of a typical whinging supporter.

tight decision you pay one you got to pay them all day long you let them go and it keeps the game flowing people who support one team when 2 teams play are out on the field do not judge 50-50 they are one sided a umpire does not favour either side and calls it how it is lot of umpires want a free flowing game so will only call stupid or straight forward free kicks every thing else is a grey area and can be judged either way....who wants a stop start game with 100 free kicks each way

Dead set I'm not sure whether I agree with you or not. Try using a , or a . :)

Umpires don't want any type of game just call it how they see it. I don't understand this 'grey area', its either a free kick or its not.

Not whinging just stating some facts.

The one paid was wrong and it wasn't a free in play where it is hard to see like holding the ball, too high, holding on, it was an opposition player moving inside the 5m exclusion zone of an opposition player taking a kick. the other 8 - 10 times it did not get paid it probably should have been as you just had a player wandering by moving inside 5 meters of the player taking the kick.

Didn't say they were horrendous but rather some are prone to reacting to suggestions / influenced by the environment they are umpiring in. I've seen it games where I didn't follow either side.

Ah yes, Daishy. I'm a bit dirty on him actually, came out to tell me to be third man up and whilst I was listening to him my player got away on a lead and kicked a goal.

zedman wrote:and he did bite his tongue all day but he couldnt resist as you strolled into the arena again late in the game to get your only touch for the day!..which was a great goal from 1m out and then the obligatory "bird" was given to our bench..thats grass roots footy right there! :D
Whoah whoah whoah. I didn't flip the bird mate, I am not that classless! I pointed to you guys after my goal of the year contender  as a gesture of thanks for the remarks.

And I got 3 touches. All of them quality.

Hahha, yea I was shite, but to be fair I was pretty surprised I got selected in the A's, probably gives you an idea of how were going with injuries and the like. The fact I got 3 possessions and kicked a goal in the A grade is something I am proud of all things considered.

I got one more game with Nat McDonnell, which means a promise kept so I am happy.

Mazey was easily our best, such a quality footballer. I might even forgive him for smashing the ball into the side of my head in the pre-game mess around. I wont forgive him for the kiss to make it better though.

We had a couple of debutantes who I though went OK as well and agree with your comments. Bonney was the small left footer. Came off under the blood rule after a great chase. We do have a few guys that need to learn about football concentration and discipline, something I know Harro, the coaches and the leadership group are working on diligently.

Harvey was simply amazing. I have played against him before and I reckon he is playing better now than ever. Scary considering the rumours about OP. His ability to read the flight and the play ahead was quite honestly amazing. Seemed to be a bit less of a prat about it all as well which was pleasing.

Really like the armada of small quick types you had. Sorry I cant really pick them all out individually as they all sort of melded into a blur. One turned me inside out like a sock on the flank and kicked a good goal.

The crowd were boisterous but fair and I think might have even given a bit of a nod towards our effort in the second half. Overall the day was not as miserable as the scoreline in the A's would have suggested.

Still, if I make a market now I think CLG would be under $2 mate. ;)

Was there watching the game.If it wasn't for mazey think it would of been a 30 goal loss or more.Wouldn't surprise me if he gets in the votes for the umps was the most standout player on the field. Was only there for 3 1/4s of the game aswell

yes and no.What i seen the ball was getting pumped in there in the 1st half and the backman couldn't do alot when it was coming in like that. But all round game wise mazey #8 was the standout on the ground.Like i said they would of been pumped by more than 30 goals if he wasn't playing on the half back line.

Hahaha, probably! I have heard Harro is susceptible to a bit of a kiss and tickle.

Whilst I was disappointed with my game I do need to keep things in perspective. 18 months without kicking a ball (or really exercising for that matter!) plus a stretched LARS ligament in my knee and all that jazz resulted in me not expecting to play any A grade football this year.

A spot in Round 6 came as a surprise and I was pleased to be given the opportunity. Despite my limited output.

Did kick a great goal though. Beat three to the flight, dodged another four, bucked two tackles, handballed to Luke Mc, shepherded two more, kept running, received the hands back, dodged the rest of the CLG team and slotted it from 55-60...

...centimetres.

Early reports are MPFC over the Units also in a close one by a kick.

Could be the first time in many, many years we have had A's, B's and C's all get up...
