Dont agree
As a member of Essendon for 30+ years and going to numerous reserves game I can tell you the club does not give a crap about the reserves winning. The supporters might but the club doesnt. The senior coach tells the reserves coach what position and what ammount of game time each player plays, winning is purely secondary. The ammount of Bendigo/Essendon games ive been too where players are played out of position or only play 10-15 minutes is unbelievable.

but because that's the way essendon is does it automatically mean the crows and port will be the same.

Listened to the Geelong CEO on 3AW a couple of weeks ago talking about not only how pleased they were to be 5-0 but also how proud they were as a club because their Reserves were also sitting top of the ladder at 5-0 too.

Certainly sounded like they care.

For the record, I disagree with the sign but I have a genuine problem with the inability to display it at SANFL venues.

Geelong may care but that does not mean the PAFC would care.

They already are showing disregard to the SANFL by moving players willy nilly, moving players under the guest rule then deciding to take them on joy flights to Melbourne and demanding that players play certain positions.

I would be far more trusting of the AFC in this instance of the reserves winning as a main objective. However, only slightly more.

I would think that if you want to create a successful winning culture then success should be attempted across all levels of a club

That's the exact stance Keith Thomas has put on public record.

As for having a regard for the SANFL, his job/legal responsibility is to act in the best interests of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

In maintaining that all Port Adelaide players will play at Port Adelaide, the club will strive to win SANFL and AFL Premierships.

in the AFC you mean the football club that just got caught out cheating the system? It's amazing how people only want to see what they want.

Forget to read the highlighted part?

PAFC have form in treating the SANFL with contempt. Adelaide go about it differently they actually leave players at their allocated club until the player approaches them with an issue. They then approach the club to find a solution if no solution is found then the best outcome for both player and SANFL club is worked out. Port just seem to shift players because one of theirs is not getting a league game in the midfield because he is not up to standard.

Why wouldn't you mention AFC history though, like you did with port. The thing is though Port havent actually broken and rules. The SANFL have allowed them to do it, if they really wanted too they would stop it. The AFC is the ones that have actually broken the rules with their dodgy dealings. And at the end of the day if Port where to have a reserves team, you wouldn't have to worry about the issues you have with Port.

Then to make even more of a mockery of said situation, one player ended up playing Reserves within a fortnight of being switched to the Magpies...

What does the AFC past salary cap indiscretions got to do with treating the SANFL competition with contempt?

The Port Adelaide Football Club's AFL Football department abuse the SANFL rules to suit themselves. Adelaide's Salary cap problems are not worth the paper they are printed on in this argument.

Wasn't there talk of of Norwood becoming the crows reserves. I wonder how port voted on that proposal :-)

ah, but that's DIFFERENT!

how do we abuse the SANFl rules. The SANFL have set up a set of rules and we have never broken any of them. Unless you can provide evidence that we have you have nothing to argue with.
