Yes, love Hail Hail.

I remember No Code coming out quite vividly.

I pre-ordered the CD from Virgin in the Myer Centre, and it gave me a ticket for a listening party which I think was at Cartoons.

On a Monday night I went there with some mates and they played the entire album from start to finish, and it was the first time we heard it. Going from Sometimes into Hail Hail knocked me off my feet. Well, that and beer.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

I remember that, saw it on a PJ doco or PJ20 maybe. He hated it, left everyone quite shocked from memory.

I still have the entire show on VHS somewhere, recorded at the time. God knows where.

Guilty pleasure from that year for me was Free Your Mind, En Vogue.

Was great!
Well what wasn't great is that I started work at Tea Tree Plus Radio Rentals that day, so my second day was quite hard :(

I have a new turntable at home, so I went out and bought Ten (Redux et al) - so good.

I also got this by CCR

Not usually into "best ofs" but it was a nice way to not have to change albums :D

I love looking through music lists though. Spotify has an app made by classic rock magazine, which I scroll through, see a bands name I've never heard of, then give it a listen. Discovered many bands that way. Like Diss says, more underrated music out there than over.

Too right. As I age, I find it harder to be turned on to new music though.

I still have all of my cassettes. Even the mix tapes. Just need a working player to go with my CD player and record player and I can live in a retro vacuum where MP3 doesn't exist.

Going to Singapore this weekend, and spending a day in the adelphi. Heard mystical things about this place. All the high end stereo equipment you could want. On my shopping list is, 2 sets of cans (one for my vinyl setup, one for pc), and 2 Dacs (one for the 2.0 set up, one for pc).

Diss, that's an over-rated excuse for not liking new music. You just need to find it.

I was going to write about the Rolling Stone top 500 songs list but that would REALLY be taking this from the original subject.

So I started a new one

I find that only half true.

Sure, bands aren't making as much money from their work, but more and more people have easier access to be turned on to music they'd otherwise not be able to hear or find.
