I consider something overrated if its continually nominated as one of the greatest songs of all time, when it really is pedestrian. Hey Jude by the Beatles is always up there, and I like the song, but I think the Beatles wrote much better material than hey Jude.

Definitely. I don't see why Oobla-da isn't up there ahead of it. My fave Beatles track is A Day In The Life.
I'm almost at the point, to tell the truth, that I don't ever want to hear a Beatles song again.

I think Bryan Adams is over-rated but he still packs them in.

I'm sure we can all agree that Nickleback, Creed and Train are all over-rated.

I agree, but I also agree with Dissident's reasoning. For all those (myself included) who think The Beatles have much better songs in their catalogue, there are plenty of those who consider it to be their magnum opus. By this very same reasoning, who's to say who's right or wrong about that?

It's hard to delineate between someone calling a song overrated and actually hating on said song.

All a person/people did, was write something - and then perform it. It's amazing how that short time of inception can create years of "how good, how bad, how overrated" something is.

When I say that, people say "but it meant so much at the time".
