No wonder the club is where it is at. Chatting on the weekend amongst ourselves and it made mention of how many juniors from the last 18's premiership have left the club (2007). The club simply do not have a good development program due to lack of money. OK they have had 4-5 lads go to the AFL but outside of that most leave when they realise the ressies at sturt are for winning flags and development. A lot of kids are used as training fodder and communication is crap. What is the worry is that the league team play AFL fringe players like Jack Homsch etc that are not really good enough to play high level consistent SANFL. What will happen when all these AFL listed players are gone and the club has no one left as they have not taken the time to devote to locals. You think things are bad now, you don't have to be Einstein. It is a real pity. Just paying our membership is not going to save the club unfortunately. Things will only get worse as the season goes on. Why have we let the likes of Craig Evans and John McDonald leave ??? There are numerous others as well. Playing good league footy elsewhere. Very frustrating. Boys club ? Maybe. Sad ? Definitely. Do they want help ? I don't think so.

What's with the "our" and "we" ?
Just trying to make sense of your post and where your coming from, what your information might be but your avatar says Norwood yet your grammar suggests you're a Sturt supporter. I'm guessing typos, but it makes your post read funny.

Sounds to me like a friend or relative of Craig Evans or at the very least an associate. Always makes me laugh this argument that we don't promote kids. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story though, so they say

There are players all over the league playing good football at other clubs that either struggled at their first SANFL club and looked for opportunity elsewhere. Some of those because of "personality" clashes with coaches (whether real or perceived) so not sure that is a valid argument as to where Sturt are at?
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Not sure Sturt can be criticised for their junior program. I don't reckon they have signed a "big name" interstate recruit for at least 5 years? Norwood have grabbed guys like Caicha, Batsanis, Terlich etc. Gordon at North this year, Eddy at South, Tippett, Tuck & Ferguson for us. Cash probably has more impact on these guys and they make a huge difference to SANFL sides.

That is a huge issue, guys like Caicha and Suckling have made a huge difference to Norwood, and i doubt Sturt would even be in the race for those type of players.
If they come for the right reason's they can be gold.
If you don't have that sort of quality come in every now and again i really don't see how a club can be a serious challenger.

Agree SANFLnut and Ronnie. They seem to have, and be in the process of, really bringing through their juniors.

Anderson was a reasonably "big name" recruit. Why did he leave? Also, another bloke came over with him, but has done his knee a couple of times? Who was that and is he still at the club?

Cam Stokes played a handful of games before being drafted. From NT originally and apparently is the 2's runner this season with a view to play next year...

Thanks heater, that's the bloke couldn't remember his name.
Would be pretty handy if he gets fit again I'd imagine.
