Everyone under -estimates Plympton and I'm not sure why. They're a bloody good side.

You could definitely see a shoot out happening when they play GG, only Plymptons back line will be really tested.

Surprisingly, I didn't rate Heccies that as highly as previous years and everyone thought they'd be 2nd to the Grove. In saying that, they tend to struggle on smaller ovals like ours.

We had plenty more shots at goal, it's just unfortunate we dicked around in front of goal and paid for it.

Woots is a bloody good player but god, he's an antagonistic little turd ;) not unlike one S. Milne

As for people carrying on, I think maybe your supporters should read the rule book once or twice before carrying on like galahs.

Nice cheap shot as Roachy, not quite as cheap as the one a few years ago but not bad

Not going to argue that Vanderhack is not a good player, i think he is a quality player. But it was funny to hear his own teammates discuss how soft Vanderhack was and agree he deserved an acadamy award for some of his attempts to win free kicks. Couple this together with him approaching one of the umpires before the game to tell him we are here to target him, big softy!!! Not sure why any team wouldn't be trying to stop a player who is in the divisions top 3 goal kickers anyway...

Haha we will agree to disagree on the Roachy topic... i think he was the one who gave the cheap shot a few years ago after requesting an investigation on our player who dished out a decent bump (part and parcel of footy) that resulted in the injury, and not hit him behind play. The tribunal results speak for themself there anyway, nothing come of it. Also thought Roachy played a real good game too

Looking forward to the return leg when we hopefully have a more complete side. Definitely not an excuse, there better team won on the daym but i was very happy to get within 3-4 goals of Plympton with some of the players we had missing. Should make for an interesting match at the lodge.

GG by 6-8goals is my tip. Having played both sides i think GG can match Plymptons height and will be too good when the ball is on the ground.

Have to be honest I'm pretty envious of the red dogs and there following be great to have a crowd like that backing you every game, except a few idiots on the side (opposite club end) making empty pathetic threats after we lost..

Didn't really rate plympton that highly think if we're full strength we could knock them off at our oval, except for golden grove div 4 isn't that much different then div 5.. Can see the burras losing a game this year there freaks.. Could easily be div 2 in a few years..

Also our player that got knocked off after a sling tackle won't be making up a story that he got cracked in the face like roachy did, toughen up dude seriously..

Is it fair to say Div 4 is weak this year with Greenies, Pulteney, Salis West losing some quality? Lock in a GG flag right now I reckon.

I think it is fair to say that GG are a fair way ahead of us other teams at the moment. Having said that though some sides have shown they can run with them so it only takes GG to have an off day and the opposition to take that opportunity for an upset to happen. I think GG have to be flag favourites without a doubt but i wouldn't lock it in because we all know footy can be a funny game.

Not sure about them being division 2 in a few years either. The jump from div 4 to div 3 is pretty tough, GG would know that from a few years ago i would imagine too. However, if they can hold on to the core of their group whilst getting some experience and development into their young kids they can be a very decent and competitive div 3 side.

I began by saying the competition was weak, with the exception of Golden Grove, so that's why a team I don't rate is 4-1.

Hefty just said it's GG v Plympton this week, I would be shocked if GG don't win in a one sided game.

Thank you for your insightful thoughts there Jetters

If this is your way of saying that this game will determine exactly how far in front Golden Grove is in relation to the rest of the comp, then yes, you're right ;)

However, Im not expecting cricket scores as a margin by any means.

My Comment was in reply to the above about him not being that good, like i said for a bloke thats "not that good or special" he receives a fair bit of attention,

At least we can both agree that we were both very happy with Plympton winning by 3-4 goals

We probably wouldnt say no

Well said Gutterboy.

A bit too much sniping happening around here lately - this is fast becoming less about discussing games and more about the keyboard warriors.

We may have to re-visit the rules around here if it keeps up (and I mean all SAAFL threads, not just this one)

I think not matter what club you play at if you are a forward line player of course your team mates will give you stick and if they don't then your not rated

I would tend to agree with you FC, the game on satdy was probably Heccies worst this year, but overall managed the win. Much like alot of teams still waiting to see a consistent Heccies team on paper each week. Having watched Paul play all last year in Div 1 I'm sure the antaganising comes with the div 1 territory and now having a rash every game in Div 4 he gets to exploit it. HV need to keep positive as they had some great passages during the game but failed to execute when the chance was there. Our chaps will move onto BL this week at home and i'm sure will look to re-ignite the old flame, always a tough challenge against BL and i look forward to a red tin and a kranksy and watch the game unfold.

It was a real surprise to see a very different game style - In the past I've loved watching Heccies play a beautiful running style of footy. Looks like you're missing the space cadet though (Howie)

Will Jacob Fuller ever pull on the boots for the Hownds again? I noticed he was cleared to Darwin over the summer and just assumed he might come back.

Also very surprised to see Craigy Walshaw with a Heccies jumper on! After almost 20 years of being a footy trainer, he remains the ONLY player I've ever had to stretcher off the ground with CRAMP.

Unfortunately we have had our chances in 3 of the 5 games so far and could quite easily have been 3-2. We're not though and the pressure is on to get some wins on the board. Not making any excuses, but hopefully all the bad luck we've had so far will turn into some good luck soon. I think we are having a ritual tonight and sacrificing a virgin to the footy gods to try and appease them :(

Interesting to read that Heccies have been "written off", but we have played poorly in 2 of our 3 losses.
The game against Hope Valley was a different style for us - but definitely a necessary adjustment as we were bleeding goals in patches through the first 4 rounds.
Craig Walshaw stretchered with cramp? Our first trial game he cracked a rib and tried to play on, first game (Pultney) he walked off with what the doctors described as a car crash injury, and discovered the next day he had a broken jaw as well. Fairly tough IMO!!
We want Vaughn.
