Better not do that - someone might suggest a handshake constitutes a suspension for touching an injured player

I know that this has nothing to do with this game but I'm reminded of an incident at the start of the 1960 Grand Final. Ray Trenorden went to shake hands with his Norwood opponent prior to the game starting. Legend has it that the Norwood player grabbed one of Trenorden's fingers and dislocated it!!!! Trenorden had the last laugh though when North won by 5 points.

Glenelg fans: Tell us a little about your debutante tomorrow - Hayes (if he plays...)

I've heard a few good things around the traps from some Glenelg friends but I haven't seen him play. Is he a quick player, an in and under or run and carry type?

robranisgod - Ray Trenorden must have been a pretty good player > I spoke to a few past west players recently and his name came up a few times in a most positive light.
He's 74 years of age now; father of Simon; Nephew of Ken and 2nd Cousin of Wally.

For the chaps above, (including mightytiger) The smilie I used after my comment was purely tounge in cheek by the way! AND to my precious norwood friend, have the guts to use your real name and don't hide behind a those initials if all you can do is write negative garbage about clubs you don't support week in week out.

Once again sorry to be off topic, but seeing as you asked Ray Trenorden was what used to be referred to as a great trier. He captained North in 1962 and he played centre in the 1960 premiership. I remember him more as a half back flanker. He must have played 150 games. He was tough, hard but scrupulously fair even though he was reported by the best umpire I have ever seen, KG Cunningham.

Later he was a selector during the Nunan reign. He has two grandsons playing reserves for North on Saturday.

From the SANFL site...

Zac Milbank wrote:Glenelg

Glenelg has been rocked by the omission of Crows pair Jarryd Lyons and Shaun McKernan for its clash with West Adelaide at City Mazda Stadium on Friday night.

Lyons, the leading possession winner in the SANFL, has been in red-hot form all season while McKernan kicked five goals in the Tigers’ win against Sturt last Saturday night.

Carl Nicholson has been sent back to the reserves.

Aggressive teenager Billy Hayes (19, 178cm and 75kg) is in line to make his league debut after performing strongly in the seconds as a midfielder/small forward.
‘’He’s always been a competitive animal,’’ Glenelg talent manager Brenton Hole said of Hayes, originally from Bordertown.
‘’He is a very strong tackler and the boys have been very happy with the defensive pressure he’s been applying up forward.’’

Hayes is joined in the Tigers’ squad of 23 by fellow inclusions Hayden Jolly, Lachlan Earl and Riley McFarlane while Riley Milne has recovered from a neck injury.

Former Central District key forward James Lawton has been cleared to play at Tigerland and will begin his career with the Bays in the reserves on Friday evening.

I'll keep an ear out for the louts from the terraces tomorrow - They were a riot last year when GFC played westies at Richmond. I remember a few of them having some fun with your ex president. It was better and more entertaining than the standard of the game last year

Cheers big Phil.
