Was he that bad an AFL footballer? How many AFL games did he play? He was no champion, but i thought he was pretty honest. He will always be up against it as the Crows took him over Pavlich.

That's the correct assessment I reckon SIT

Thats my point, not saying he was bad. He was just no frills, not flashy but hard a crack.
Very similar to his coaching style, Port have a crack but they are not good to watch and dont seem to have an excitement factor

Yep, the irony of internet experts suggesting a bloke who has played 150 AFL games is a spud.

I guess they know better then the coaches, selectors and recruiting staff who get paid to do their job.

Read my above post Booney, havnt ever suggested he was a spud
Most coaches impart some of their playing style on their coaching
Bassett and Collins were defenders and coaches that way
McGregor coaches very similar to how he played, no frills

If you feel so passionately about the subject. My suggestion would be to get a sign made "Mcgregor no spud" and get the port magpies cheer squad to hold it up in protest :-)

This wasn't directed at you Jimbo. I agree about coaches imparting the style they played, probably because the coaches who most influenced them played / coached in a similar fashion.

Every club took someone over Pav that year. Port took Adam Morgan instead!

Mcgregor was pick 75 in 1998. Pav was picked up at 4 the following year. Could say every AFL club overlooked him in 1998 as above.
In choosing pick 75 (a late throwaway pick), the crows interviewed and were considering numerous juniors including Pav, Mcgregor, Chris Chubb and others. At that time Pav was considered a risk due to numerous injuries.
History goes on to show Pav was fantastic from that point onwards, whilst the Crows got an honest 150 game trier out of Mcgregor, which most clubs would be more than happy with at pick 75.
That's my understanding/take on it, could be a little biased, but there you go.

Thats a very fair look at it i feel Macca.

He played some good footy for the crows and i don't think you kick 7 in a final if you are an out and out dud.

HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH

Not only is Jay Nash back in the side we are also playing a second ruckmen in Cameron Milne!!!!

Surprised Dallas Hill wasnt picked after a great ressies game but who cares another run in the ressies wont hurt the young lad.

Ian Callinan named again for the Dogs, only if we could win a game of football he would probably qualify for the finals.

Could the Dogs be back? ;)
