Yeah, I can see how some think that's soft, BUT... as has been pointed out already, what if he was seriously injured? That's a cowardly act to hit a injured man who can't protect himself. Deserves a couple for that.

As for the the Bassett, Collins, Bode incident(s)... move on, that's what we love about the SANFL! If any of them get rubbed out or fined, that's a joke!

how did Birss know that at the time?

Im sure he seen a few blokes who have been winded in his time... Your hate for anything redleg is clouding your judgment here I think.

Birss plays for West.

After watching the footage on recovery session, what a garbage report on Birss - This panel is trying to justify its existence. Even the AFL wouldn't bother with this! Toughen up SANFL

Surely you can admit it wasn't a good look, though. You can't knock a guy down while he is on his haunches in pain, off the ball. Would you be annoyed if it was a West player receiving that kind of treatment from an opposition player?

I think 2 weeks is fair, yet others, including West Adelaide fans, are saying it should have been 5 weeks !!!

Maybe what those saw live from the other angle condemns him more - The footage looked relatively harmless to me. Then again, I am from he old school that believes the IRP should be used for severe contact - Fielke was silly - he was at the tribunal last week for something similar > he really has let his team-mates down.

As I said earlier it happened right in front of me. He ran 10 metres to get him. Could clearly see the Norwood player was rolling around hurt. Gutless act IMO and I'm a massive Birss fan

Must admit the footage on the recovery session made it look a lot better than it was live.

Don't expect much less from West these days. Can not compete playing football so resort to thuggery.
I am not opposed to tough hard football and a couple of guys squaring up but hit from behind in the GF and an attack on an injured player is cowardice.
2 matches is about right.
Roughing up Sturt, Port and Centrals in their glory days did not work so don't waste your efforts Bloods. Try beating the opposition on the scoreboard where it counts.

That's what happens when as a shutdown player, you lead your opponent away from the ball and blanket him. Thus pleasing the club that is paying you.

The SANFL isnt technically a club is it?
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.
