It wasn't that much pressure, the distance he was away from goals he could have gone anywhere in a mostly vacant 180 degree arc, he went straight through the middle of the goals

Westie's had Bundys for $7 unlike most other clubs including my own that charge $9 - $9.50!
BBQ was a freaking treat as usual too!

West were more effcient and cleaner with their use of the ball especially on 2 or 3 times where they ran the ball from our forward line to create and score goals and that was ultimately the difference. This was after long periods of us dominating play and holding the ball in our forward line for no result. 2nd, 3rd (after first 10 minutes) and 15 mi nutes of the last were dominated by North.

54 more disposals for starters - 30 more kicks and 20 more handballs and 10 more inside 50's. We also had 43 more marks although alot of those are from chippy little kicks moving forward. Key marking stats in my book are from our talls - Miles with 10 clearly stood out there - he played a great game. I thought Stewart did well after halftime when he moved out to CHF and took some big grabs (9 in total) in the 2nd half as well as rucking. I am not sure how Zac Milbank can make the comment he did in today's 'Tiser re Tippett holding him to only 1 goal, not a big deal when you only kick 7 for the whole match and I thought Stewart had the beter of that battle.

A game even though we were sloppy and not efficient in - we should have had it wrapped up mid way through the last quarter.

Hate to sound defeatist but in reflection going into the game I thought West might be a 5 goal better side than us and was confident we could bridge that gap between now and the end of the season. Walking away from the game I actually think we're a better side than West and have more room for improvement/cohesiveness/skills than they do. I'm actually more confident of North's 2013 season now than I was 24 hours ago. We won every stat except for the scoreboard and free kicks so good signs.

As for comments I have read re "West were lucky", "North unlucky" etc. and written by supporters of both teams, I dont subscribe to that as a general rule. Whilst you need a little luck always in Football it's "swings and roundabouts" - it goes both ways.

This time last year (Rd 4) we played West under lights coming in 0-2 and won our first match with a Matty Wright goal late to give us a 7 point win in what was a close game. Last night we just didn''t take our chances but alot of that was down to West's pressure as mmuch as our mistakes and decision making so it is cold comfort suggesting the better team on the night lost.

Whilst I hate to lose (we all do!) we lost a winnable game by a point to last years Grand Finalists and to a team on fire so far this year. If we keep working at it we should be right up there all year but there is still a long way to go.

Wedgie I looked at the result slightly different that West played quite poorly and yet still won. It certainly our pressure that got us the win last night

That's a fair point, and if the AFL players fell differently it could well have made a big difference in Westies favour too.

Thought Stewart was really good for you last night and Miles thrashed Keough but that is going to happen when you have only played 4 games. I didnt realise what a good job Mangan did on Johnson though, Mangan had 20 touches as the defender and Johnon only 1 goal after 7 last week. Mangans effort will make alot of Westies supporters very happy, those who helped financially get him to the club :D

I'm not sure I'd be as optimistic as you about winning every stat except for the one that counts. I guess North could have wasted some chances, but either way Westies presumably used the ball better. I'd rather be in their camp than North's...

No, but if my team had lost the game I wouldn't take much heart from winning the other stats. If it's as simple as reducing turnovers, kicking straight etc., then North will be able to build on last night easily. But merely winning the disposal stats etc. wouldn't, without more, be any consolation for me...

West did use it better which I acknowledged in my first post on this topic and we didn't make the most use of our dominance. West would be happy getting out of jail but they would have some concern about how much we dominated possession overall so I am not sure who's camp I would rather be in - that clearly depends on who you support!

I guess Westies would be happy with winning despite being dominated in terms of possession. It's always good to take the 2 points in a match which you could have easily lost. Either way, both sides are finals certs for me...

Just watched the wrap of the match on the ABC. Neil Cross claims he was at the game but his summary was shit - must have spent the night with Zac Milbank in the bar? Also in a game that was won by a single point it was nice of the ABC to show only 1 North goal FFS!

For all Norths dominance, West did out score North in three of the four quarters
