How many AFL players?

Postby sjt » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:21 pm

How many players does your club have that 1) have played at least one AFL league game and 2) didn't originate from your club?

From the dogs I count; Nason, Williams, Callinan and Tom Collier.

Not including mini drafted players? Ricky Henderson, otherwise...

For Norwood, I make it to be 8 who meet both criteria, as per my interpretation of the question.
Five are direct recruits to Norwood; three are SANFL mini-draft players.

Michael Newton (delisted by Melbourne FC in 2011, recruited by Norwood in 2012)
Bryce Campbell (recruited from Wagga Wagga and drafted to the Crows thereafter)
Simon Phillips (drafted by the Sydney Swans from Sandringham, de-listed, recruited by Norwood, then later drafted by the Power)
Kieran McGuinness (delisted by the Western Bulldogs in 2006, recruited by Norwood in 2007)
Tom Jonas (recruited from Sturt FC, then later drafted by the Power)

Taylor Walker (mini-draft - Crows)
Matt Thomas (mini draft - Power)
Brent Renouf (mini draft - Power)
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

Where's Nason originally from? I'd always thought he was a Central underage product?

Luke Thompson and then the two Power pick ups from the last mini-draft - Kane Mitchell and Campbell Heath.

I think he played juniors at Port. But...he certainly played for Centrals before heading to Richmond.

Note I said 'I think', I don't want this to turn into the 8790 Snafu all over again. ;)

Correct - Ben won an under 17's Premiership with Port Magpies. Then League coach Tim Ginevar told Ben he wasn't good enough for League football, so he came to Central. Played 2 League games for the Dogs prior to being drafted by Richmond. From Paralowie as a youngster but I think he played his early footy at Salisburty North?

Recovering from 3 seperate surgeries on his back. Still with the Dogs but hasn't played since the Reserves Grand Final last year. Is back running now, I believe, and looking to play a few Ressies games after the State Clash...
