It definitely happened in 1964, when Central didn't win a match for the year. It didn't happen in 1965 or 1966 they beat Woodville in round 2 of 1965 and North in round 2 of 1966. Someone said 1967 but I can't remember Centrals early games that year. Even in 1977 when Central won their second, and last wooden spoon, they killed North in round one.

I'm catching up with Robert Laidlaw this Wednesday night, so I'll get him to confirm it ( and then double check it ;) )

I have reliably been informed it was in fact season 1967 that Central last lost their first 4 clashes (they actually lost their first 5 then)...

Yes, first 5 in 1967, then beat Woodville by 4 points in round 6.

Only ever buy a budget for the first game or two i attend each year, just to keep track of the new faces for South.

Found it amusing that last week's cover story was about "great winning streaks", and the photo was of Nick Liddle. Hardly fitting, although we're currently on the wrong end of some infamous streaks

CD V NW
Goals:
Norwood : Warren, Panos 3, Grigg, Evans, Dawe
Central : Obst 2, Callinan, Habe , Meulendykes, Williams, Hardy

NA V ST
Goals :
North : Johnson 7, Langford 3, Stewart 2, Anderson, Campbell , Gordon, Ryswyk, Shannon
Sturt : Meulendyks 4, Hewett , Hill 2 , Ohara, Habel, Hardy, Williams

These were the goalkickers from these games listed in the Sunday MAiL on the weekend
Some of these guys kicked goals at 2 different venues !

HABEL kicked 1 goal for ST in the day game , HABE also kicked a goal for CD in the night game
Someone was UNHABEL to get the spelling right !

MEULENDYKS kicked 4 goals for ST
MEULENDYKeS might have been tired as only kicked one goal for CD in the latter game
PS : Which is the correct spelling the one listed in the NA V ST game or the one listed in the CD V NW game ?

The game analysis and article contents by all the journalists in the Advertiser and the Sunday MAiL are very very very good reading
I never miss reading all the game reports , they are very descriptive , factual , and educational at times
The Adelaide SANFL jounalists are of a high standard in my opinion
But the proof reading needs tinkering

good point Mal

The issue isnt the journalism..... its the editors.... proof readers etc who make decisions

SANFL journalists dont really get many column inches.... or the luxury of having accurate stats at hand. The time will also come when they are forced to only comment on AFL players performances as is now happening in the VFL.

I would love to see the budget return to being a source of football news as it originally was when it begane with match reports & news..... aspiring football journalists could cut their teeth reporting on games and the clubs

If you are a member of your SANFL club, you should get either the complete version or a condensed edition relating to your club, depending what they signed up for.

I think full suscription is only $20, which is still pretty good value for money, considering what you get, regardless of what package your club has.
