Watched most of it on TV. Entertaining game. Both teams looked spent in the final 15-20 minutes. Gray good up forward for Port, while Raikiwasa was very important late. Logan close to the Bays' best. McKernan average in his first game in black and gold.

Entertaining due to the closeness of the contest, but both sides way down on skills, in general. Thought Port deserved the win a little more, having noticeably raised their intensity when they came out in the third term, and did the right thing by slowing/choking the game late in the fourth.

Incidentally that little 16 year old goes pretty well for Port, doesn't he?

It was a great game of footy. No team looked to have it won at any stage in the contest with both teams defence being under pressure all day.

Wonder if the result may have been different if we actually had a fit player to come on in the last qtr and the 30-18 lopsided free kick count was the other way around - just saying ;)

You certainly were hamstrung ( ;) ) by the lack of options in the last half as far as rotations went. Summerton got off the leash a little and Port began to run.

I had not looked at the free kick count. They usually have little impact on the game anyway.

Regardless of injuries and free kick count we still should have won. Missed many gettable goals and we had two OOB on the full and one that hit the behind post. Those three hit the target we win by a point.

Shouldn't have lost that game.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'm surprised to hear that. I thought Glenelg had the better of the umps, particularly in the second term.

In both cases the pressure was self-induced, I reckon... Both teams need to work on their defence.

The blame for Glenelgs loss is due to their trainer number 6 i believe....

Other than Port getting thrashed round 1, it seems they might be a bit closer to the pack than last year. Same can be said for "first half Sturt". Gap from fifh to ninth was only a few games and could be a similar finish again. Close results like this are going to be crucial.

If Mckernan is to only play forward then on his game saturday it will be in the reserves.Seemed to have no confidence at all

Injury to Kirkby will probably see him retained at FF. But yep, confidence appeared shot on saturday. Making a second effort or two every so often wouldn't kill him though.

Was disappointed one of our blokes didnt give him an 'extra hard tackle'.

Port wouldnt have thought twice in doing it if the roles were reversed.

Mind you with our leg speed no-one would have caught him anyway.
