2nd person sliding in I can understand. If they are going to keep the rule I think if a bloke gets the ball first then has forceful contact on his opponent should be play on. For years we want to award the bloke first to the footy and this rule has the potential to make a mockery of things that make our game great....
For years we have also been taught to keep your feet.
Agree ideally footballers would like to keep to their feet.
But as a kid the element i was always taught was win the footy first and the umps will protect you. This is one of the first rules that doesnt reward the player who wins the ball.
I bet all the Power fans were cheering Westoffs bravery and attack on the ball in the last quarter, when he slid in won the footy (on the arc of the 50m line) and set up the goal. If it wasnt for Crows player 'backing out' rather than taking the charge to steal a basketball term he would have been done for the slide rule, which would have ashame imho.
