my missus was the one who helped him out... and she has done sports training for a fair while in the past and her words were and i quote "he had a corky!!!! Quite possibly the softest thing i've seen" and then i said surely you are joking, c'mon seriously, and then she replied "he was on the stretcher and i thought before i looked at him because of the way he was carrying on, i thought this was bad, i checked him out and said mate you have a corked calf, i will get you some ice" when she returned he was gone... some of the greenacre lads were laughing... my missus went to your bench and checked on him and he was ok, and she chuckled back to the club rooms...

but she was happy to help cause you guys didn't have a trainer...

Rnd 2: Iggies vs Heccies

Postby 250+ » Sun Apr 14, 2013 11:04 pm

What happened here with Iggies by 10 to zip?
Surely the Hounds aren't struggling for numbers in only the 2nd round.

Can anyone enlighten us?

The hounds pulled the pin apparently. Round one and not filling a side? Not good.

We have the numbers, Had 27 players available for round one. Club made the choice this week. Should be playing this week.

So your explanation for forfeiting and denying Old Ignations a game is what?

My understanding is that the Club told all players they have to be members by a certain date to be considered for selection.
That date came and an insufficent number of players to fill all teams were paid up members.
Rather than let it lapse and be seen as just an ideal threat, management stuck to their guns and forfeited the C Grade game. Big call.

Pretty tough on the guys that had paid.
If I was one of them that had paid I would be asking for a refund of 1/18 of the membership fee :D

On a serious note its good to hear its not a player numbers issue.

Gutsy call by the club. So many threaten but never follow through.
Be interesting to see what would happen if there still weren't enough players having paid their fees.

Athelstone C Grade celebrated 3 milestones yesterday - a 100th game, a 200th game and a 300th game. A great acheivement for all the guys. A tough day for the Mitcham boys with a near 30 goal to 1 scoreline, but to their credit they played the game out to the final siren in the right spirit.

A big thank you to them, as well, for staying on the oval after the game and recognising the efforts of the 3 milestone players with applause. Thats what local footy is about.

Athelstone beat Mitcham by 170 points that's a very surprising result. Mitcham that had 4 teams last year, I thought they would be a lot stronger then that result suggests.
