Obviously didnt see the game due to being in Renmark, sounded like North missed alot of easier shots on goals early but also sounded like in the
1st half Sturt got a lot of their goals alot easier

2nd half sounded from the broadcast North got a bit more of their running game going and had Johnston up forward that basically took over.

Guess any win is a good win and North will happily take the points, personally thought they would have won by more but at least Sturt had a red hot go.

Appears Sturts 2nd halves are a problem not sure if it is fitness or after the last 2 weeks it's now a mental thing

Sturt basically had no bench for most of the last half.

Well down in the pecking order unless Taylor Walker gets injured or loses form. Johnston is tall for SANFL but maybe not tall enough for AFL? Plus IMO he can't take Jenkins place as he cannot ruck.

So unless the Crows have a massive injury list or form loss he will continue to wear the big V IMO!

North played very average. Good pressure from the Blues caused many North dumbass decisions/skills. PLaying like that next week will see us get thumped by West. Happy with the win though, 2-0 so far with quite a new-look side.

Good to test out the side without most of the afl players and fought valiantly but just ran out of legs. Coad hobbled off so hope that isn't an issue. Not a fade out like previous weeks. North sounded much cleaner for longer.

Sturt does have a real issue re depth with the AFL players out or the reliance on them to virtually carry the team from what I see? I know players from other clubs who are fringe league and move teams for opportunity happens and North had quite a few in their line-up today but I was quite confident re the ruck battles today when 2 players who never looked like getting out of North's reserves were your Sturt's two ruck options.

Yet got within 5 goals of your lot, who seem to look the goods this year, without most of the AFL lads and with a depleted bench for most of the second half. I understand we did very little recruiting owing to cash problems so a question of depth and reliance on AFL players would be the obvious conclusion. Considering all that it looks as though we stood up pretty well with what we had.
Yes, I am predicting a long season ahead for Sturt fans if I can find satisfaction a in a 5 goal loss. I actually thought we'd get done by alot more. It's hard to be disappointed when you do netter than you thought you would.

Gum moved to Vic I think? Ziggy well held.

I think if we had our full afl quota wed got a lot closer possibly even won but we can't rely on those and we need to think about our side in terms of them not being here. So today was a fair reflection I reckon although I too thought wed get done by more.

Gum is in WA. He is on Subiaco's list but I don't know whether he is currently playing.

Vitkunas only had one kick today, but he had Luke Ivens on him. Ivens is an almost 200 game defender who was far too experienced for Vitkunas. I actually thought that Ivens might take MacIntyre who was the shining light for Sturt up forward and always looked dangerous. Francou had a first gamer on him. A tough introduction to league football.

Sturt were quite impressive early. They seemed too quick for North and also their rucks were on top.

After half time Craig got right on top in ruck, even before Pearce got a heavy knock and North's speedsters came into their own.

As much as Sturt missed the class of their AFL listed players, the player I thought they missed the most was MacLeay. Sturt had no one to match up on the three big North forwards who even when North weren't playing well were a constant threat.

On today's display Sturt won't come bottom and North won't come top, but of course every week is different.

My main worry with you guys is Johnston and Stewart...always too tall and hard to match up on...Mcleay unfortunately is getting too slow but his presence will be welcomed back for sure. Wouldn't mind Kurtze back too.

Why can't the pahr and the cows take your fwds haha

Seems odd to be critical of Sturt for their reliance on AFL players while Lewis Johnston kicks 7 and Daniel Stewart gets a few too. Surely if you removed all AFL listed players from this game it swings in Sturts favour?

Fair call and maybe your right but part of our recruiting strategy was to cover for not having either of those two and to a large degree we have. As well as Langford (who apart from poor accuracy was named in our best 3 by Francou) we still have key forward / ruckman Daniel Archer to come in. Archer will be like Gordon - under the radar but he will be be a very good player in this league. Johnny Boras is in good touch in the Reserves and Westhoff out with a hammy. Both Boras and Westhoff unlucky not to play league last week due to our depth. Time will tell but there are some good upsides too. At least we know with Stewart and Johnston when they play for North they put in because Prospect is where they originally come prior to their AFL stint.

Stewart has already told the club he will return to Prospect if he is delisted and not picked up by anyone else. That seems a very possible scenario come seasons end given he appears down the pecking order at Port and they havene't been able to trade for him in the past 2 years either.

OTR, i noticed Chad only got the 9 disposals again today, hows he travelling, i know he did really well in the trial games but would it be fair to say the extra pace has caught him out or his he playing a different role.

I really hope he can make it at league level but from an outside point of view it looks like he mght be the first midfielder out of the roosters side.
