This will be the battle of the books - the Gowans' book vs the new Norwood book about our first season in 1878, (little more than a decade before Chris and James were born)

Pretty sure Norwood are floating a forty foot high statue of Arthur Diamond down the Torrens to commemorate the launch of its book, do the Dogs have a similar PR blitz planned for the Gowans' launch?

Nah, they'll probably just get the Holden Blimp out again, which also gets a mention in the Gowans' book ;)

If this game is played on coaching and talent alone, Norwood should win, their team and recent record is miles ahead of the Dogs on paper. I've seen Norwood lose too many winnable games in the last twenty years just to assume that this will be the case though.

That we're relatively fit at this stage of the year is a bonus and with Campbell, Phillips, Aish and Newton, four who'd get a game with most SANFL clubs, to fit back in at some stage we're travelling OK at the moment.

Elizabeth Oval is always a fun place to visit, memorable for often the wrong reasons but a great place to visit and come away with the points when it does happen.

Not knowing when the Dogs will wait for us outside the race always add a frisson of excitement to these games too. :D

We're de-Northing him as we speak, his skinfolds are now down from Dietrich (Grenville not Marlene) and trending Bamford.

Yes, in all seriousness I must say, having seen some early pre-season photos of the big fella, he has trimmed down a fair bit and from what I have seen of him in your 2's games, is coming along nicely.

You heading out to the Ponderosa for this one, Topsy?

I didn't have a beer at the North game, in fact the whole weekend. This is a game I'm not sure I'll be able to watch sober.

@Squawk, do you have a link for this book? I have a Norwood friend who I have to buy a birthday present for and this would be the perfect present to go with the bottle of Bundy.

As much as it pains me, the Dogs won't do so well this season. Most people that have posted about the Dogs over the last few weeks are forgetting that they have turned over a whole heap of players. They had 8 debutants against West Adelaide. It will take two or three seasons before these guys can play competitive finals football again. Norwood are at the top of their game and should win easily. The Dogs won't make the 5 this year, but won't finish bottom either, my prediction 7th. We had an amazing run for well over a decade , so it's time to rebuild for another Premiership in a few seasons time.

GO U DOGS!
