what is the signal for this free kick as all our trials have been night games which i could not attend

I don't see what the problem is. The rule might well have been superceded by things like digital calculators, but it is still far easier than using a log table.

The same signal from the umpires when someone has been tripped. The umpire taps the leg.

This rule didn't effect the Sturt v Eagles game at all. Don't think there were any free kicks paid and no obvious sliding by the players neither so I guess if it keeps like this it is all ok!

Saw another shocker in the AFL though - that Lenny Hayes one.

Hopefully the SANFL keeps umpiring like they did the first round at Unley. Thought they did a good job.

Who gets the free if a players head hits and takes out a players legs? Is it tripping or too high?

The player who's legs get taken out wins the free, despite him being the one to put his head over the footy to win possession. Don't like this rule at all, with the Lenny Hayes decision in the Suns v Saints AFl clash highlighting how bad it is going to be.

That's stupid. A player could get concussion and miss the rest of the match while the other player can continue.
