What I don't get is if they need to check if it hit the post, surely that means the mark was taken basically on the line.
Given this, how was he not put on the line hard up against the point post? Instead he was a good 5m inside the field.

Do the umpires have any F*****G idea of how to line a player up for a shot at goal or do they just let the player take the shot from where they want to ?
Pederson takes the mark adjacent to the goalpost, the ball actually touched the post in completing the mark. He shoulkd be taking the kick adjacent to the goal line, basically on a 90 degree angle. He ends up running in for his shot about 3 metres out from the line and ends up on a 45 degree angle and a simple shot.
Seriously, the umpires have NO IDEA AT ALL and it never seems to be talked about as an issue.
