Well, whose dumb enough to play baseball tonite, certainly not me!!!! Why cancel the B's and colts, and make the A's only play, is this constitutional? , i'm told not!!! Indians vs Shields & Saints vs Coyotes!!! Here's my tips, probably not worth a fat rats clacker but, Indians to beat Shields (just), & Saints to win over Coyotes by 2-3 runs.

Well done bystander. Shields won by 5 and we drew with coyotes. Not often a tipster goes 0 for 2 in this leauge. As for having to play this week there is no way it was constitutional. That doesn't seam to mean alot anymore though. Might as well rip up our constitution and burn it for all the good it does. No one knows it and no one cares about it. Coyotes in serious trouble at the moment. If they can't find a way to beat an undermanned Saints side who make 4 errors and hand them 6 of their 11 runs they can't win the flag. Shields didn't look that impressive but I think they might have had a couple out as well. Pitching is their biggest concern as it is with us. Coyotes have the pitching, just the rest of their team is crap with coach they don't seam to listen to. Pitching improving for us. Kyle was OK on Fri. Little bit erratic at times but got burnt over and over by bloody fielding errors. If our field work improves and the pitchers keep improving we might do alright. Still best batting side going around as Fri showed. Shields hitting not to bad but a few holes that could be exposed over 9 innings. Keep an eye out for Jake Lever for us. Can't believe how quick he's been throwing and curve ball breaking more than width of plate. ONLY 14 YEARS OLD!!!!!
One tip for ya. Indians to sneak in to the finals infront of coyotes. They play solid, team baseball, something Coyotes can't seam to manage. Thank God Jay's back this week!!!!

Tips for this week, Shields to beat Saints, sorry boys but unless you pull your finger out that's the way it is. Coyotes vs Indians, the who gives a fat rats cup, going with Indians, purely because Mal's not working, if he's made himself avail. or not i don't know.

Curious to know how shields will handle the disapointment of not ending our season. All the talk through the week that I had heard was how much they were looking forward to finishing us off. Typically all talk no action from our Dorward Oval friends. Interesting coments today at Poole from some of them about missing players. They were missing Mole, Jezza and the tatto dude, We were missing Widget. NEWS FLASH TIGERS!!!!!! don't think any of those guys are capable of winning the flag for ya!!!! Mole steady, Jezza OK and Tatto dude crap so far. If those 3 guys are needed for Shields to win games they are stuggling. Kyle and Jay to good for Shields hitters Fri night. Never had so many plays at second base in the one night!!!!! Shields hitters to late on the ball. Good to see their cocky B graders cop a belting too. Duane a so called "Reject" from shields was bloody good on the mound. Goes to show if you show people how to play, they might actually go alright.

Indians, but only just

By NATHAN DAVISON

THE Goodwood Indians prevailed in a less-than-convincing manner defeating finals aspirant Woodville 5-4.

Indians coach Justin Clarke was less than happy with his charges' performance and will look for some improvement in the run home.

Simon Galpin was given the ball for the Indians and did a good job to be relieved by Darren Fidge.

Goodwood led all day but a late charge by the Senators gave them a chance to go ahead in the last inning.

Nick Talbot, returning from Claxton Shield duties was the standout offensive player for the day collecting three hits for the Indians.

Goodwood will be looking to sharpen up their game leading into next weekend's blockbuster with top-of-the-table Glenelg.

East Torrens kept their slim final hopes alive with a tight 10-6 victory over an again-unlucky Golden Grove outfit.

Scores were tied at six going into the sixth inning but some power hitting from coach Craig Watts and veteran Bubba Dienelt surged the Redsox to a four-run lead which the Redsox were able to hold.

Bodie Williams pitched well for the Sox and will be looking to keep up that good form in the absence of their injured import pitcher.

Watts was in the action all day connecting for two home runs on the day in a timely return to form.

Golden Grove continue to be around the mark and was led offensively by recently returned Claxton Shield rookie Jeremy Cresswell who collected four hits to lead his team.

Brandon Diplock pitched well for the Dodgers but had no relief and tired late to allow the Redsox to take the points.

East Torrens will need to keep winning to keep any sniff of a finals berth alive.

The tide might have finally turned for West Torrens.

The Eagles triumphed 3-2 in eleven innings against a more fancied Kensington.

It was an important win for the Eagles against an opponent above them on the ladder and will give coach Andrew Scott some much needed confidence in his game plan and team.

Steve O'Connor was the star for the Eagles from the mound going nine innings against the power-packed Kensington line-up.

He was relieved by youngster Steven Rex who held the Cardinal hitters at bay and allow talented rookie Tom Fiebig to hit in the game-winner in the eleventh.

It was Scott himself and Sam Tibbits who led the way offensively for the Eagles, collecting two hits each.

Ben Onofrio and Damian Norsworthy were the best of the hitters for Kensington.

Nick Stiefenberger pitched all day for the Cards in another strong outing.

Port Adelaide continued its rise with a resounding 7-0 victory over finals-bound Southern Districts.

Port was dominant, led by Cliff Foster, who gave up only three hits in the complete game shutout victory.

The Magpies are now firmly focused on a top two finish and a challenge at the title.

Coach Mark Greutner returned to form with two hits and was well supported by Jaron Van Dyke, Ben Foreman and Nat Anderson.

South sent Claxton Shield rookie pitcher Adam Widdison to the hill but he was done in the fourth and that was all for the Hawks.

South collected only three hits against the dominant Foster in what must a huge concern for coach Paul Green.

An improvement in offensive production will be required by the Hawks if they are to challenge for this year's flag and not just fill in the numbers.

Sturt collected its eight win of the year in thumping Northern Districts 16-5.

Still with a mathematical chance of making it, the Saints will be buoyed by some good performances by some of the youngsters that coach Gary Rice has promoted and given a chance at the top level.

On a positive side for the Northerners, they have managed to score a handful of runs a couple of games in a row and are showing some signs of improvement in a long and arduous season.

Glenelg kept up its winning ways with an energetic 9-1 victory over arch-rival Adelaide.

Adelaide, still with a mathematical chance of making the finals sent coach Ryan Simmunson to the mound to face off against Glenelg starter Tristan Stevens.

The Angels started well, posting a run in the top of the first, only to have that cancelled out by a Dale Ziersch home run minutes later.

Glenelg followed that up with some timely hitting to post another and have six runs by the third inning.

The Tigers did not let up and went on to collect eighteen hits for the match in a timely return to form.

Ben Hilterbrand led the way, collecting four hits, and was well supported by Ben Dixon and Ziersch posting three hits each.

Glenelg again showed off its pitching depth using Stevens, Ziersch and Page to round out the nine innings and keep them fresh for a busy week with games against North and then Goodwood.

From the messenger website, they have an update most weeks.

Also you may have got more input on this thread if it had a more appropriate title, I know I skimmed over it because I assumed it was just some sort of poll between baseball and softball.

Probably Wedgie. Didn't really know what the hell i was doing to be honest. Good to see the B grade Book it's finals spot Bystander. Pitty the A grade couldn't do the same. Think we might be in huge trouble next week. Losing this Friday night would be the end i think. If we lose Fri night we would need Shields to beat Indians Sunday to make it. If we place our season in Shields hands I think we might be in for some dissapointment. I'm not saying they would throw the game, however they might decide Tommy Hull or Padsy should have a pitch!!!!! Doubt it though. I think if i were in their shoes I'd rather play Saints or Coyotes than Indians. They could do anything if they make the finals. Dwane Litfin not in a good way either. Think his ankle will keep him out for atleast 2-3 weeks. Looks pritty bad. Looks like there's a cricket ball where his ankle should be.

A grade just need to play out the rest of the season, farwell some old timers as best we can, and get ready for next season. If we win the flag from here it will be close to a miracle but stranger things have happened I spose. The only good piece of news i've heard is ozzie will probably not be lining up for indians on sunday. Big loss for them. Think Shields SHOULD win sunday anyhow but unpredictable season, hard to tip. Best and Fairest tips, A Grade: Damon Bailie, B grade: Duane Litfin, U/16's: Jake Sampson. Jay Shannon smoky for the A grade.

Unlike yourself bystander I can still throw it past the jam tin. Just. You just worry about first base and leave the rest to the experts. I would think Jay will pitch at some point tonight and if that does happen someone has to catch him!!!! That's if we get a game, weather looks as though it could be a factor. Will be interesting to see who pitches for them. Would expect Harv's but Wilky hasn't thrown in a while and is probably due. Hope he does, haven't given him shit for a while!!!

Wilky did pitch!!!!!!!! Good result for us but must be a nervous wait for the Doggies! Wilky again belted into submission. Surley even if the dogs scrap into the finals they couldn't win it from here. Haven't won since before christmas. On the other hand next week will be very interesting. Shields do not have a great record against us and they know it. Not having Jay might hurt a bit but Lifty should be back and that may be enough. One thing is for sure, it will be a firey game. Could come down to simply who pitches the best. Would expect Pobke for them and Kyle for us. Both will be fresh and going hard at it. Tip...........Saints by 2 runs ..........in the 13th inning!!!!!!

Amazing!!!! Tommy did pitch, Damon Bailie needed a "rest" obviously since he was there but not playing. All I can say is than god we won Friday night because Shields were not doing coyotes any favours. A 17-16 win over the bottom placed side is not quite the way I'd like to into a finals series. The stupid thing is they have probably done us a huge favour knocking out Indians. So far this season they have beaten us four times. Shields and coyotes have only beaten us once each! Shields did relieve Tommy in the last innings just in the nick of time. They sent donga to the middle for just long enough to remind us all why he doesn't go there anymore. Interesting send off he gave Richo too. "See ya later Indians" or something like that I think it was. Not sure why you'd say something like that when the finals haven't started yet. All they did was get lucky. They wont be that lucky Sunday. Have just heard why Damon wasn't playing and we all wish him well. Most definatly not a laughing matter. Hope all is well Damon and wishing you good health.

"BE AFRAID" be "VERY AFRAID" - those who speak with forked tongue on the weekend and made rash comments at the end of the game, should keep a watchful eye over their shoulders when next out on the town having a few quiet drinks. The indian guys gave it a great shot on the weekend only to go down by one lonely run, which according to their scorer they already had - but hay who listens to their scorer when they are as switched on as theirs is. Good luck to all the sides left in the comp - oh and one bonus with indians going out so early in the finals is that "MUNG" will be free to roam the sidelines with his sharp mouth and complimentary comments - and yes he will have his little parrot "BOZ" sitting right on his shoulder waiting for that opportunity to sling some shit as well.

Good to hear from you Ozzie. Just curious to know who you are refering to on the "forked tounge" comment. Surely not the washed up relief pitcher that faced your beloved tribe last Sunday arvo. The lone run you speak of was there for the taking to. Certainly not an awe inspirering performance from the leauge leading Tigers. However the under rated tribe certainly needed the poise and class of years gone by. Unfortunately not to be............. This time. Perhaps an effort even the most ardent of tiger supports would be worried by, or should be. Certainly not the time to be sharpening one's tounge with a send off for a brave Indians outfit, Mung inparticular. An appropriate quote may indeed be....."If you build it, he will come." Well Mr Dorward you have built it, and I'm sure, at some point during the finals, Mung will have his revenge. Yes Ozzie it is the year of the Wilko. The year of the Wilko watching the action from right field. Perhaps he and the above mentioned could share a pillow in the same retirement village. You know, the one arm's go to die
