why does there need to be a war
my post back in 0ctober only needs an amendment to first line to read keep Magpies , blues and Bloods alve

why feel threatened by losing afl club owned players when one afl club wrecks your finals chances already by with holding players. any other alternative would see them lost to our league anyway

the clubs that will benefit from crows and power reserves will be those that promote their home gme against them. Gee it might even bring closet sanfl supporters back to suburban ovals with their kids given their kids might want to see afl players and have a kick and catch at all intervals and it will attract a percentage of afl club supporters when the afl club plays anyway

meanwhile one has to lol that Andy Collins left vfl because of afl involvement. I just thought he was sent over to deliberately destroy the standard of sanfl single handedly he was quoting that afl players who won a vfl final for Gelelong cats didn't care. Amusing that both our afl coaches in Sando and Hinkley would have had first hand experience of the Cats experience and benefits

1st premise keeping Magpies alive
2nd premise put all bias aside supporters. we can all have our 2000 game day diehards
3rd premise heirarchy of sanfl & clubs to realise they need afl more than afl need them
4th premise you want a strong vibrant exciting sanfl comp that can draw crowds

From 2014

All Power players align to Magpies
All Crows players align to Crows
Crows 9 games at opponents home ground with gate and profits to opponent
Crows 9 home games at Adelaidei with gate and profits to assist funding their operations
Magpies 9 away at opponents home ground with gate and profits to opponent
Magpies 9 home games at Alberton or Adelaide Oval with gate and profits to Assist funding their operations

Played on alternate day or night to the afl team

Side made up of squad members and a rookie base from under 18 and guests if needed

The two afl sides play for points and their win loss ratio would be up and down according to availability especially if down on key positions. Yes they would dominate at times and you would expect them to be finalists. In first year or two would be hard to beat but the other eight sides would and should aspire to improve. Lets face it this years final standard has been poor as have crowds. and at least if these teams made finals their supporter base would follow them whether their afl side was alive or not

As a North supporter/ member I would expect if we played Crows at Prospect you could and should draw a crowd of at least of at least 4000 and am being conservative. Dads mums and kids would ahave access to huddles for the thrill and you never hear any tactics or secrets anyway. kick and catch at will , autographs and presentations in opponents clubrooms and I gtee rooms would be bubbling from five til seven . If it's Magpies and they are travelling ok then their crowds would come too. i wouldn't allow them to be the tv game 10 team comp gives you 18 rounds playing everyone twice, have state game or two and have grand final the week before the afl grand final week. gee you could even have a complete week off one week

As an afl season ticket holder I thoroughly enjoy watching the young afl players from Crows and would still take interest in them against us and others. and they will develop far quicker with their peers and coaches. The two clubs must commit to finals rather than the poor way the local clubs are currently treated in September. If their afl team is in finals intensity it gives every one of their players the chance to participate in finals campaign with a classical example the year with Sturt with Glenelg,South in limbo

Ps anyone under 25 should get concession prices as they are spectators of the future
I'm 50 but kids who turn who turns 18 suddenly goes from paying nothing to full price unless availing of a concession . Not Sure how much you charge adults over 25 but agree with Jars that the current admission is over priced and there should be the
possibility of season tickets or promotions on Port or Crows part being on offer as the local clubs do

PS2 Regardless of the above , the crowds at sanfl finals should be sending alarm bells to the sanfl that they can not sit back and believe that the competition would be better of without the 30 afl listed players who need to kept in the system for betterment of the comp even allowing for the Power attitude towards sanfl finals

Im dead against the AFL reserves sides playing finals.
I never ever want to see the Crows or Power be called SANFL premiers.
Still concerned as to where these top up players come from, they should not be allowed to take a player that is on an SANFL list.

I'd happily put money on the crowd being much lower than 4000. What happened to VFL crowds when the AFL clubs started taking over their sides? How many people go to Collingwood reserves games? Only a very small proportion of any football team's fans care enough to watch their reserves team play - it is the same in the SANFL when there is usually only a few hundred people at the ground by half time of the reserves, and most of these are either officials or family/friends of reserves players.

It will also be interesting to see what happens to WAFL crowds this year.

In 2010 I attended a Collingwood v Bendigo at Victoria Park the day before an ANZAC day AFL game and could only draw around 3000. Most of them only attended as the MCG was a sellout the next day.

It's not the clubs that draws the fans, it's the players. I remember a game at box hill that I think had 6000+ attend because Buckley was playing

people don't want to go to a reserves game to maybe get a glimpse of an AFL player or 2, people in general aren't like that, they go to the SANFL because of what it is now & if it gets changed, you will lose these people. DON'T CHANGE IT & F**K IT UP.

My only intention was just to highlight that some of the bigger crowds at VFL games are because of a big name AFL player.
