I reckon the league canvassed the Div 7 clubs to see if there is anyone wanting to go into Div 6 and the answer was a resounding “no”
FC we were contacted by the league in regards to our thoughts on TTG staying in div 7 and a club from div 7 going to div 6. We were told the club from div 7 wanted to go to div 6. For the reasons we were given we were happy for this to happen as it was similar to the reasons behind the SHOC decision the year before. This was about a month ago, so a decision could have been made back then instead of this raising its head 2 weeks before the season.
As far as I know the div 7 club in question reneged on the original deal to go up, which left TTG stranded in div 6 - original TTG request to stay down was based on ability, not numbers.
IFwe are the club you are referring to, then you have the facts wrong. Ingle Farm had a committee meeting and it was voted strongly to stay in div 7 as this is what we saw as the best thing for our club at the present. This was before christmas. Then in February, our now ex president went out on his own to contact TTG and the SAAFL and led them to believe we were interested in going back to div 6 for TTG to come back down. When he tried to pass this through our committee, they rightly saw through what was going on and declined to vote again on something we had already decided on and had moved on from. He resigned the same night. Unfortunately some people didn't like the original decision made in December, but we have a strong committee atm and it's pleasing they stuck to their guns. We are looking forward to rebuilding our club and hopefully moving back up through the grades from div 7. I apologise if TTG or the SAAFL were misled in any way, but these are the facts. Please feel free to PM me if anyone wants to discuss this any further............Good luck to all teams in Div 6 this year, hopefully we will see you again next year when we earn the right to be there.
