Came 5th last year with no LeCras, Nicoski, less than half from Kennedy.

This year they will miss a third of a season from Nicoski at best, nothing from LeCras or Kennedy (at this stage).

Nic Nat and Kerr will miss the first couple of games. They have recruited Wellingham to add to their midfield depth. Darling will improve. They have lost Lynch although i don't think he is a great loss considering he was dropped last year at certain times.

No friggin way. Mensch was a servicable player for the Cats for many years and was often unfairly maligned.

I highly rate the Eagles

Essentially the emergence of Darling has enabled the Eagles to replace Lynch with the returning LeCras. I think Darling has the capability to overtake Kennedy as soon as this season but more likely next year. So in the last couple of years they've trimmed a tall and added Hill to the smaller forward mix for a much more balanced attack. Their ruck division is the envy of the league with the competent Scott Lycett barely getting a game. The midfield is a good mix of youth, pace and experiene and bats deep even though they don't have anyone you would rate as highly as an Ablett, Pendlebury, Cotchin, Watson or Kennedy. So if you play the Eagles who do you tag? Expect blokes like Shuey and Gaff to grow a leg this year if they can both stay on the park.

Another unfailry maligned player in my view. I remember going to Port v Norwood games and the Port fans kept calling him 'Doreen' and then I looked at our forward line and thought 'wouldn't mind him in our colours'. If you play alongside Stoneham, Brownless and Ablett of course you are going to look ordinary but he was a good grab and every now and then he even kicked straight.

Darren Smith was probably the most influential CHF in the SANFL in the second half of the 1980's. Which may or may not, say much for the rest of the CHFs in the competition at the time.

Personally I don't recall criticising him as I knew how vitally important he was to the team's structure.
