Cats have won 3 recently and even got to see one live so I'd definitely want North to win one this century so my kids can see it!

Not really, we were barely in it - on the other hand, you guys had a very healthy lead and blew it. ;)

Yeah that's true but at least we didn't have the embrassment of getting smashed. :P

Im with you TDK. If I was to play in a losing GF, id much prefer walking off, having lost by a close margin rather than getting slaughtered. I agree there is no easy way to lose a gf (they suck whether its 1 or 100 points). I guess I just look through the eyes of a power fan and the embarrassment the 2007 gf has caused us. If that game was a 19 point loss then who knows where we would be today.

Obviously the loss for HV cant be compared as the stigma from a large GF loss at amateur level hardly lingers, but everyone who watched that game would have loved to at least see a close contest.

Anyway its on to 2013 we go :D

we lost a gf with last kick of the day
we also walked off the oval after being 7 goals to 0 down in the first qtr

the smashing was alot easier to walk off the oval.

*both sucked balls tho

As a player have won 3 out of 4 with the mighty burras as a player. Won't go into the one we lost!!

Throwing on the coaches hat this year due to injury but looking forward to the challenge it throws up. S'pose another way to look at this thread is it more pleasing to win a flag as a player or as a coach??

Would love to win one this year as a coach with players that I have been involved with @ GGFC for 13 years but would it be the same feeling if I was still playing??? Hopefully I will know this feeling come September this year!!

I agree. As you said there's no easy way to lose a GF but for me getting smashed would be worse. While obviously not ideal, I could handle a 3-5 goal loss better than a 100 point loss. With the 3-5 goal loss your not embrassed and it shows you were at least competitive. As for the Power, I was thinking of that 07 GF when I posted that. I think that has hurt the Power more now than if Geelong beat them by a small margin.

And yes 2013, bring it on. :) Keen as a bean, can't wait.

still baffles me how we won that. good game of footy though.
the 2 grand finals i've played in (well i technically only played in one 2008, the other one i sat on the bench for 4 qtrs) we have come from 30+ points down at 3 quarter time to win.

For me, a magpie or a power premiership would bring me pretty much equal joy, though a Power premiership holds more significance for me, being on the national stage and after the struggle we had to even get in the comp

easy answer. A north flag would be far better. if peake won a flag (a grade) i would be more shocked than anything else  and the B grade have won some recently, and while thats great, i havent been involved with them as long as i have the roosters.
