Unlike TSG, I am being serious when I say "that's great" ;)

I too would hate to see any club disappear.

I want 8 clubs in the SANFL (or preferably 10) but I don't want Sturt to go, they're an iconic part of the SANFL.

I dont understand the need for an even number of teams, the bye is great for many reasons.

However if one side was to fold then I would think most would agree West would be the obvious one based on the ones that are currently struggling -

> Small supporter base
> Small membership
> Reduces the clubs in the cramped Western Suburbs market
> Little upside to reverse their financial position due to above factors

Correct. Wonder if the advertiser heard to contact John or if John felt so passionate he rung them ???

His attack on the entire sanfl/salary cap today showed his true agenda .

It wasn't just an attempt to save the club he "loves".

Rooch is desperate for the Magpies to become Port's reserves, hence this story bobs up.

As for the League wanting to cull or merge a team, that's just garbage.

They are very keen to keep the numbers where they are, provided each club stands on its own two feet, and they will work hard with financially troubled clubs to ensure that happens.

Not what Les Stevens said at the cdfc last year. He stated 8 teams was a huge reality.

Incorrect that's what we are suppose to think. It's just John freethinking for the good of his club.

Llike most sa media identities they don't have opinions they have agendas that must be followed.

And this is the most blatant I have seen in a long time.

If only we acted years ago like I suggested we could of saved our comp.

It's all heading to the inevitable conclusion.

Waits for booney and hondo to suggest "the sky is falling"....

Definite Remorse les stated it was due to everyone needing a bigger slice of the ever shrinking pie due to Port Adelaide.

I believe it was before the north game at the end of the year which OTR and wedgie will be able to confirm.

and ill add... it just would not be the SANFL without ALL ten teams(woodville and torrens yes it feels the same kinda) in our comp. SANFL without anyone dying (or a reserves AFL team, which would mean 2 AFL reserves teams) would see this comp die very quickly IMO.u might get an inflated crowd if the sturt crows played west if the league team played the next day. otherwise who would be there?

so.. how do we keep the SANFL viable? cuz its looking a grim road by the way people like halbert is talking

Halbert knows bugger all. ANSWER : Sell off AFL licences, sell land at west lakes and make a sanfl future fund whilst living off SMA revenue.

The answer is very simple and has been in circulation For years.

Thus why The timing of halbert stating our clubs live beyond our means, need to have same salary cap as vfl/wafl and sturt can't survive is crap and is simply a former crow official stating a clear agenda.

Now is not the time to be naive.

I'd rather the SANFL develop the land themselves and rent out the real estate, have a permanent income generating asset that isn't revolved around gaming.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
