6. Wades Keeping- His keeping is terrible, so far in his career we are lucky it hasnt cost us, his batting record is brilliant avergaing 40 in a struggling batting line up early in his career is a great start, the second he struggles with the bat he is straight out the side.

I reckon dropping DuPlessis just before tea on day 5 in Adelaide was a tad costly.

whufc wrote:OK another VERY frustrating day of cricket, here is my top 7 (in order) issues the Aussie team needs to sort out before the Ashes.
1. Shane Watson- what is he in the side for, surely his form in the middle order doesnt warrant selection, does he bowl, his role in this side needs to be worked out ASAP, its messing up the team balance.
2. Michael Clarke- he is the best bat in this country by light years he HAS TO move to preferrebly number 3 but would settle for number 4, him having to play cross bat sweeps because his run out of partners is a waste in this side. Lets trying being 2/100 rather than 3/30 all the time. You are the captain do whats best for the team not yourself. You are the most in form, most experienced, most talented, best player of all types of bowling in this side FFS.
3. The Opening Partnership- they are opposites which normally suit at the top but they are not working, both inconsistent, maybe Watsons the answer who knows, it needs to be sorted.
4. World Class Spinner- we dont have one plain and simple, the pitches in England should be seamer friendly, pace bowling is our strength, are we going to go with the four pacemen or continue to play a bowler who is not up to it against the best in the world.
5. Pace Bowling Preferences- as was said on here last night, what is our best pace bowling attack who effen knows because they keep rotating the bastards. We need to know who our best 3 pacemen in Aus are period
6. Wades Keeping- His keeping is terrible, so far in his career we are lucky it hasnt cost us, his batting record is brilliant avergaing 40 in a struggling batting line up early in his career is a great start, the second he struggles with the bat he is straight out the side.
7. The Number 6 Batting Position- Is it Wade, is it a specialist batsmen who knows the selectors sure dont. While Wade and Henriques are batting ok we can deal with it BUT if either one struggles with form we are playing a batsmen short.
I may have forgotten some, but imho what frustrates me the most is not that this side is struggling more the fact that this side has no real structure, chemistry or balance. ITS A DOGS BREAKFAST!!

8. Micky Arthur. The guy has no ******* idea. He was on FOX today saying 'Xavier Doherty has given us exactly what we expected from him' Yeah 0/85 that is what most of us expected. He is shite. Then he tried to justify Lyon's omission 'We just wanted to give him a bit of a rest and give him some confidence'. The last time I checked getting dropped doesn't do a lot for your confidence you wanker.
9. John Inverarity. Couldn't pick his nose. Not sure who the other selectors are but hey I haven't heard of half of the players they select either so all good. What a joke both heads should roll.
regards,
REB

Pretty fair assessment there.
Im a Watto fan but if he cant bowl his role is somewhat diminished.
Id still rather him open with Warner than bat at 4.
Interesting stat was shown yesterday that Australia has the highest average opening partnership in world cricket over the last 12 months, think it was 39 which is fairly ordinary, not sure if thats an indication of the quality of bowling or average batters opening in the world.
Warner stays for me, averages 44 as an opener, will fail sometimes but he is doing his part.
Cowan is a real concern, averaging just on 30, not good enough to open, not sure if a move down the order would work but perhaps give him a crack at 5 and push Clarke up to 4.
Wade's batting is ok but keeps worse than a district player, and as for the bowlers who knows, they get rotated every second game but agree that we shouldnt play a spinner for the sake of it. If they are not up to it play 4 quicks in England
