For the second year in a row the glamour girl of Australian Greyhound Racing, Miata; has been scratched from the Group 1 Superstayers Final at The Meadows.

In 2012, Miata was a race eve scratching from the Superstayers race with trainer Paul Stuart saying she was “jaded”.

This year Stuart has had to pull Miata out of the same race saying that she “tore a shoulder while galloping in preparation for Saturday night’s final” and that he couldn’t start her unless she was absolutely 100% right.

Absolutely amazing time by Bernie's dog. Nearly a track record on debut! Should be too classy for these here again. The only possible down side is left the track limping last week, but should brain these. Gottem was still a nice run, helped along by the fast time though. Will get a good run from Box 7 given the way the 6 will move to the rails at jump. Inside box will help Vassallo runner - looks much better against the rails than mid-track.

Hard to see anything beat this exciting pup.

RACE 2

Initially looking at the field I feel like I know these runners the most in order:

7 - after a short spell returned to racing in find form. Beginning well. Only problem is, has had a lot of vacant boxes on inside and outside in recent HVL form. Simply has to jump as is different animal when leads.
2 - Can begin well and does like to shift across to the rails mid-race. But at box rise, is hard to predict, can move left or right - which means needs room.
8 - Slower out than these, moves to the rails and runs home hard. Strongest finishing runner.
1 - Slower out, weak here when found bother wanted to go wide. While on the circles loves the rails - makes me believe that isn't totally accustomed to straight racing.
3 - Musters well in races comes back in distance. Trouble may find him with #2
4 - I've liked the running ability in the home straights and starts for this animal. I think will improve a lot over the straight here.
6 - Simply has to jump here. Returned from a spell and was strong at Bendigo - not phased by having runners on inside which is always a good sign to me. Pushed on strong around the bend also, but faded in the straight.
5 - Looks like a fader. They don't do too well here especially over the final stages of the race, you really need a good lead here.

Based on what I think will happen at the start and who is best suited here.

If you look at ITS MANIC run closely, the first split 6.52 - great. Halfway down the straight when Stagger was closing, ITS MANIC looked to its inside, either has forgotten about straight racing, or could hear Stagger coming, from there, then tried to straighten up again but had lost a lot of momentum. Looked a little bit lost way out in front maybe?

The 6.52 was the same split time in the race for WITCH HUNT. But they are drawn differently here.

The animals that I know in order are:

6 - has lost mojo and twice I have given chances to win when drawn perfectly and has failed both times, will not have on top. And looking at WatchDog market - will be good if starts at $2.00 for me - if loses of course.
7 - Trainers had high hopes beginning of career with solid trial times, but is just weak in mind
1 - Weak runner cannot have winning here even from this draw
4 - Inconsistent runner, can rail, run wide, but either way runs consistent times
5 - Slow out and will also move off the track
3 - Has wanted to get off the track here before, but this race is different
2 - I was impressed by run at HVL last year, expected to return earlier.
8 - I know the trainers abilitiy but nothing about the dog besides form and tapes, big spell

Race 4 number 4 - cousin callum, will win this by a mile as long as he doesnt fall over. Any odds over $1.10 will be value! Also $1.04 place on sportsbet middle div is money for jam, load up!

A hard day at hvl managed to stay in front just with two good pick ups but overall disappointed. +28.50.

Race 4 was rather interesting with the tote. Double the normal pool size after an apparant tab freeze and all the money avoided the fancied runners.
