This mob that is placing the demand on the league to hold finals at AAMI are the same mob that allow two days of televised VFL finals on ABC in Victoria.

Hardly a fair go on our competition when we have just one day to get it all on the box unlike across the border.

The VFL has enough sides for a "Top 8", two finals on each of two days on the first weekend.

Are these two televised days for the first weekend only or is it for all weekends with more than one final?

All weekends... they have been known to show both league preliminary finals on the Saturday and Sunday.

guys the sanfl is on its knees, we need initiatives like finals at suburban grounds, why the sanfl didnt liase with abc is unbelievable to say the least, being there live or watching it on tv, playing in a stadium 85% empty wth no atmosphere does nothing for our comp

Love your choice of clubs Stampy but I don't believe the SANFL is on its knees.

Sure it has challenges it must meet head on going forward: developing revenue for clubs, managing expenditure, the sale of the licences and how to maintain it's markets (fans).

It will survive, it will thrive, it may become an 8 team comp, but it isn't on it's knees, IMO.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'll stick to my club (what I know)

Well in 1995 the Glenelg Footy Clubs income was $760 000 (we had an operating loss of 170 000), in 2004 our income was $1 340 000 (we had a $40 000 surplus) in 2012 our income was over $2 200 000 but we had a $70 000 loss largely due to additional lawyers fees due to building of the lights. If you doubt those figures MT79 get out your annual reports fronm 1995, 2004 and 2012 ;) .

How many businesses are on their knees, doomed to be out of business, if its at least one of its member clubs are almost tripling their income in less than 20 years and almost doubling it in less than 10?? I bet for at least seven of the eight "independant" clubs (I'll put the Magpies to ne side here) their income streams would have grown at similar rates to what Glenelgs have. (Based on the Eagles and West current annual reports that is true with respect to their income (Eagles $2.5 Mill West $2.2 Mill)).

Don't get me wrong the SANFL clubs have challeneges to ensure their ongoing ability to thrive (managing expenditure) but for the majority of them they will be around for many many many years to come in a State League similar to what we know the SANFL to be right now.

That statement is absed on my knowledge that within each club and the SNFL there are many people working to ensure that happens.

i dont doubt those figures at all

but i think the AFL just wanna rule the whole land of state leagues PLUS the financial pressures are straining the clubs

i hope im wrong, but that is rare

The SANFL is no longer the second best comp in Australia probably due too the salary cap and the amount of money in country football
