His dad is here, he used to play here and he just captained a winning Pura Cup side.
There is nobody in the current squad who is capable of captaining us besides Boof!

MARSH is too old
Otherwise yes

Otherwise yes

How old is he? 33-34?
Could do it for 2 years then hand it over....seriously lets face it neither Borgas or Adcock are worthy of captaining the redbacks especially Adcock the bloke has had nearly 10 years in the squad and has only played 3 good games for goodness sake.

I think MARSH is about 35 now
If only he was 4-5 years younger, perhaps
I would honestly say that the hierachy would be having thoughts about
recruiting mature aged injury prone players.
The SORREL policy must be to recruit younger cricketers in view of some
ordinary recruiting in recent years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would shop around for a skipper interstate or overseas in the 25-28 year old bracket.

are there any players that have left the state to play county cricket or cricket for another state that we can lure back, apart from D. Marsh?

Theres no doubt about it
If they were to recruit a suitable player
It would be a 25-28 year old, to bat top 4, possibly captain the team as well
No one in the SA team fits that criteria.
A certain exhuberant excillerating English player would fit the bill.

David Hussey + Simon Katich would be good [despite the age]

James Hopes would be a good choice
George Bailey perhaps

People who may not play for Australia is the logic

There's only one person that fits that description and even he's really South African. You and i both know mal, that KP is not captaincy material. Fine player yes but a captain no.

Your other suggestion of David Hussey is an excellent one though. Pity it won't happen.

Boofs captaincy last season was very ordinary, it wasnt as attacking or as thoughtful as it has been previously.

maybe BOOF was having too much fun with outside interests.......... :partyman: :drinkers: :drinkers: :drinkers:

Maybe Central losing the GF to the Eagles last year had something to do with it.

I support the SACA in making the 2 tough calls at the end of the last disastrous season. We went from Shield Final potential to wooden spoon in 1 season. There has to be consequences regardless of how popular a certain player is with the fans.

U Idiot Hondo.

Is is the captains fault that the selectors dont pick batsmen that are capable of putting a half decent score on the board??????
Is it the captains fault that the coach cant develop the batsmen into consistent run scorers?????
Any captain is going to look average when they are continually defending low totals.
eg. Flintoff last ashes series was made to look ordinary bcos he was continually defending small totals where as Strauss will come out of this series against the Windies looking good simply bcos he'll have huge totals to defend most tests cos the windies have shit bowlers.

I'm happy to see a change in the captaincy as long as the replacement is on top of their own game and at the moment, apart from Dizzy, their is no current saca player in that category which means unless they recruit a suitable replacement from interstate or overseas they will stay firmly planted on the bottom rung.

Yes, i agree their has to be consequences, but the 1st thing they should have done was sack the selectors for giving Elliott a free ride for so long.

Don't call me an idiot I'm entitled to an opinion same as you FFS

Disagree with my opinion fine - call me an idiot then get stuffed

I wasn't the only one questioning Boof's performance last season - are they all idiots too?
