Very quiet with only 2 weeks to go before finals. Hard to pick who is going to take it out this year with a big game friday night between Na Fianna & St Brendons who are towards to the top of the table.

Very much looking forward to the usual heated clash with flinders on friday night also.

Spot on Cashman, things very quiet at the moment! Teams getting very cagey with 2 rounds to go... looks like a very open Hannigan Cup this year.

I THINK the Taints can wrap up top spot tonight, if we can defeat the old foe Na Fianna at 9:15pm. Any chance the old foe will wear their black "clash" jerseys tonight...??

Cash how did Onkas look last week? A few lads have reported they are most certainly over their disasterous pre-christmas period, have got a stack of Irish up and about, and are looking as strong as ever for finals time.

Western Ireland also looking good, as are Na Fianna, gonna be a ripping finals series!

Yeh Onkas were definately better than pre-christmas however I dont think they are in the same form as the past couple of years. The Irish players were a bit quite but with Gabe to come back in they will be very hard to beat in the finals. However i feel that Western Ireland have a good balanced squad and may end Onkas run.

Although we like to have a bit of friendly banter on here but I'd like to thank the port boys for allowing our match to be rescheduled from Friday night to to tomorrow night. If they hadn't of been so accommodating then we would have had to forfeit, and nobody wants that. Thanks guys :)

Port got over Flinders in a well deserved win. Flinders lost despite having an extra player on the field for the whole game (iirc)(12 v 11), and Port being woeful in front of goal, missing at least 5 'gimme unders'.

I think you will find it was 12 on 12 all game. With a gentlemans agreement that should one side have 13 then we would both still play 12 a side....

Port deserved the win. Both sides very undermanned. Should be a good game come finals time.

Can think of 2 easy unders that port should have scored that didn't. They dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half with the aid of a stiff breeze. Flinders did have one under not called which hit the crossbar and crossed the line. Ni blane laid on steve as it was Impossible to see from where he was standing...just one of those things

Congratulations to the Saints who won last nights 7's grand final in a close game against Na Fianna.

Should be a top weekend of state league action, the last before finals.

All teams in the top 4 still have a chance of finishing top which should make for some very interesting games!

Yes very interesting finish in the top half with anyside being able to take top spot and the finals series.

After a win against Flinders we loook forward to trying to take back the Shane O'Donnel trophy from I.A on friday night and move on to take the Div 2 Final

I think Na Fianna just won the league

But I won't be doing my nude photo shoot with the League Cup until after tomorrows committee meeting.

Watching onkas scramble for ideas tonight was interesting. Especially the gathering of video evidence to prove they showed up!!!!!! Problem was they were standing on the field holding up THE SCHEDULED women's game. And when they put their team out for the "whistle" only 10 players were on the field properly kitted up. No shoes and socks doesn't count.....I believe there's video evidence of this!

At the end of the day the "reschedule rule" is now officially dead.

Safe to say tomorrows committee meeting may take a while.

Until results become official I cannot do the refs roster for the finals. Have to agree with my photographer friend that once the draw is done and finalised re-scheduled games should NOT be permitted. We had half our games at 9.15 Friday and the draw from hell but didn't even think of re-scheduling. Its a disgrace that teams have worked their ass of for 5 months and we don't have a League Cup winner.

Certainly was some interesting scenes at St Mary's last night. The scramble was most definitely on & many politics being played. I am lead to believe that there will be a small army of Onkas members at tonight's meeting in order for them to get their desirable result. The gathering of video evidence is slightly a bit over the top, but'll be interesting if the players were filmed from the knee up only :D
I did see the two Conlon boys looking over at the Flinders girls & seeing who would be their most favourable match up! 8)
I'll be heading out for dinner for the Milky Bar Mum's birthday, but I should be able to make it after to see this drama play out!

Ultimately this has to end up with the conclusion that rescheduleding of games can not continue.

Below is the ladder for the season, obviously Saints & Onkas are down as playing only 11 games at this stage until an official result is reached.

Team Win Draw Loss pts TF TA Diff
Na Fianna 9 0 3 18 230 133 97
St Brendans 8 1 2 17 267 117 150
Western Ireland 8 1 3 17 216 141 75
Onkaparinga 8 0 3 16 192 127 65
Port Districts 3 0 9 6 136 225 -89
Flinders O'Neills 3 0 9 6 157 268 -111
Irish Australians 1 0 11 2 104 291 -187

We have had 3 games rescheduled in the past two years with no issues.

In my opinion st brendans should be awarded the points. 9pm on a Sunday is not reasonable. Onkas rescheduled originally (2nd or 3rd time this season??) and I question the reasoning behind this. Maybe they didn't have their strongest squad? Not a valid reason imo.

St brendans should not be penalised. We have played games short this year. St brendans were ready to play on the scheduled date....

Yes although we havent had any problems with re-scheduled games going forward I believe they need to be done a way with because it seems clubs maybe now using it as an excuse when their squad isnt at full strength instead of a legitimate reason. Although Im really not sure what a legitimate reason consists of beacause if you don't have enough players at your scheduled game time then you should forfeit.

On another topic really hope there is an 8th team formed for next year. Wheather that comes from one of the sevens sides coming up or Mitcham reforming would be good for that extra competition in the lower sides and to get rid of the bye.

Seems the reschedule policy have come into full effect & has been written by a very clever committee that even considered this scenario!
It appears that the full policy was sent to Onkas upon requesting the reschedule. Feel a touch for the lads they dragged out there last night (boots or no boots).
It'll make for a nice home video tho!
According to the wording, the game is cancelled & non existent with a point going to each team. Which means that Onkas' may have a certain player stranded on 3 games. Which is one of the reasons they were pushing so hard for their desired outcome.

Despite this issue being cleared up, rescheduling has now got to go.
