Agar is heading home this weekend I believe. Only went over as a net bowler and to play in practice game until the rest of the squad arrived in India.

Khawaja might be a better option at number 6? Wade at 7. Warner and Clarke can bowl spin. If Watson can bowl, bowl him too. He's not that good a batsman that they need to worry about if he breaks down.

Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Khawaja
Wade
Starc
Johnson
Lyon
Bird

Yep. That looks a well balanced team.

Nope a well balanced side in India requires two specialist spinners

If we are going to play 2 spinners id go
Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Wade
Johnson
Starc
Siddle
Doherty
Lyon
If we are going to pick a crap allrounder like moses or Maxwell we might aswell pick MJ, better batsmen and bowler than both of those muppets

The Indian batsman play spin on their decks easily. We're the ones that have trouble with spin. Our strength is the pace bowling attack. We must make enough runs (obviously).

Pace bowling is not a strength when the ball doesn't get up past your knees.

England would say pace is there strength apart from Swann but they were smart enough two play to spinners and then smashed the indians

McGrath, lee, Gillespie were pretty handy yet struggled big time on indian decks

A good analogy I heard today was like a footy team that's strength is their big 3 tall forwards, you play a game in the wettest conditions imaginable, while the talls forwards maybe your strength you more than likely are going to have sacrifice one and play another crumbling/small forward

McGrath and Gillespie averaged 21 in India. Hasn't been a happy hunting ground for many others.

Well Australia don't have anyone of the caliber of McGrath and Gillespie. England had success with the quicks getting the ball to reverse, but the Australian bowlers haven't been able to master the skill.

My thoughts are simply:
1. Khawaja long touted as the future of the team (will play)
2. Shane Watson is the CA lovechild and wants to open (will happen)
3. After M Hussey anointed him, CA won't want a situation where a specialist spinner could outbowl Lyon (X won't play).

Therefore:
Warner
Watson
Hughes
Khawaja
Clarke
Wade
Maxwell
Johnson
Starc
Siddle
Lyon

Agree

But the fact that at some stage no doubt both spinners will play its going to put pressure on Lyon to hold his spot especially with the Ashes coming up.

I hope he bowls well and bowls Doherty out the side!

If Rohit Sharma is making runs against you, you know you are carp. Going to be a very long series for Australia.
