Great news for Glenelg FC and even the SANFL. Is he leaving the board completely?

Yep, but as he mentioned at the AGM he may not be lost to the SANFL.

The local media will be happy.

Dear XXXX

I want to thank you for your support of the Glenelg Football Club and let you know how honoured I am to be appointed as President of our great club. I am very excited about my election to the role of President of GFC and I am really looking forward to embracing this position.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the commitment, passion and leadership Gary Metcalf provided during his seven year reign as President of GFC. Gary was at the forefront of initiating the licensed club renovation and the installation of the lights at Gliderol Stadium which has provided the opportunity for night football to be played. Both of these projects are pivotal to the future success of the Glenelg Football Club. I wish Gary and his wife Cheryl all the best in the future and thank them for their commitment to the Glenelg Football Club over many years.

2013 is poised to be a very exciting year. Kris Massie and the football department have established a formidable list that is primarily made up of local talent who have come through our metropolitan and country zones (with a sprinkling of some new recruits to round off the team)! The boys have had a very solid preseason, and I am confident they are extremely well prepared. I and indeed our whole board and all involved at GFC are full of optimism for the season ahead.

I, like all Glenelg supporters, know it has been too long since we have experienced a Premiership! I can reassure you that the board will leave no stone unturned to provide Kris and the team with the resources and support to allow us to achieve the ultimate success.

Whilst on the field things are going along positively, we do have some major challenges to tackle in all other areas of our business, due to these tough economic times and the changing landscape of the SANFL. I could not be more confident in the board and management team we have in place to meet these challenges head on and provide strong direction and leadership that will enable the Glenelg Football Club to thrive on and off the field, and indeed be the envy of every other SANFL club. However, to achieve this we require a lot of hard work and engagement from our members, supporter base and local community. So I ask you to please join as a member (if you haven't already), and get your family and friends to do so as well. Come to the games and barrack for the boys, and please utilize the wonderful facilities at the club whenever possible. Whether that be the bistro and bar for a meal and drink, our function centre for any parties or events you may planning or to unwind in our gaming room!

Your support will have a major impact on the club and I look forward to sharing the highs and lows (won't be many), of the year ahead with you and working together to make this great club even greater.

To update your details online or purchase memberships please visit :

or call Helen and Susie at reception 8294 5333 and they will be happy to help you out.

Kind Regards,
Nick Chigwidden
President

The woman with the curly red hair who now works at the chip shop at Bay Oval will be happy, her love for Chiggy when he played was something to behold. And tease but that's another matter. :D
