Batting line up is sorted. The main attention I think should be on which pace bowlers get a gig. You could make a case for all of them.

That's it. Now try and pick 2 bowlers out of siddle, starc, Johnson, pattison and bird. I would go Siddle and Johnson as they are the 2 workhorses.

They will be looking for harbijan to take plenty. Their quicks will run as close to the danger zone as possible, creating plenty of footmarks outside our lefthanders off stump.
We know they are going to make dustbowls, no way they give our pacemen a real chance.

Can't see the Aussies wanting to rely on Clarke (back), Warner, Smith or Maxwell to bowl against some of the best players of spin in the world.
Therefore I recon we need to pick two spinners. At least there is some varity with Lyon and Doherty (one spins in, the other away).

I can see us playing 5 bowlers as a result. Wade at 6. I can see Johnson, Siddle and Pattinson getting the nod to ad a bit of ability with the willow in 7, 8 and 9.

Henriques is putting forward a bit of a case to play the all-rounder. I'm not sold yet, but he's certainly pushing.

Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Wade
Johnson
Pattinson
Siddle
Lyon
Doherty

Starc, Bird, Maxwell, Henriques, Smith, Khawaja

Just my thoughts.

The side that will get picked IMO is this.

Cowan
Warner
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Maxwell
Wade
Henriques
Siddle
Lyon
Doherty

If they think there is some chance the quicks will have some effect they will take Maxwell out of that side and replace him with Pattinson.

That's my side too. Good balanced side with plenty of bowling options. I'd even give the ball to Watson if things are getting desperate.

If we play 2 spinners we still can use Clarke and Warner to tweek a few.
Would much rather Henriques or MJ to fill the allrounders spot

Lol

Maxwell is my 12th man, he shouldn't be on this tour so instead he can run the players out drinks in 45 degree heat for the 3.5 days we will be fielding for.

Smith will be in the air conditioned changerooms being pampered by Indian godesses!!!

Weather won't be a factor. 30 degrees with 70% humidity will be good for cricket.

How many bowlers do they need? If Clarke is batting at 5 they need Wade at 7 or he'll run out of partners pretty quickly.

Khawaja might be a better option at number 6? Wade at 7. Warner and Clarke can bowl spin. If Watson can bowl, bowl him too. He's not that good a batsman that they need to worry about if he breaks down.

You think Clarke can bowl 30 overs in a match? He is as fragile as Watson. Warner is a dud with the ball. Can't believe he is even being considered as an option.

Watson has ruled himself out of bowling. Not sure why people can't understand that
